August1991 Posted March 9 Report Posted March 9 I have never met Pierre Poilevre nor Mark Carney in person. A good friend met Mark Carney in person - when Carney was governor of the Bank of Canada. I met Pierre Trudeau several times in person. He was short and had striking blue eyes. I met Jean Chretien in Canada and abroad. He was amazing in a crowd. -Heck, I remember first seeing Chretien in the late 1970s crossing Wellington, in front of the Parliament, hands away. Jean Marchand -I met him in a parking of Ste-Foy shopping mall. I met Mulroney several times in person. The two together: I have a memory of Chretien in opposition meeting Mulroney as PM - in person. I met/saw Harper in person on two occasions: leadership debate in Montreal, off island event. -Tall, not a crowd pleaser. Marc Lalonde? I met him once in the Montreal airport. Tall, dressed gay. August1991 Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Jacques Parizeau - I met him once in person, rotund. Late 1980s? He gave an amazing speech (in English) explaining Canada's tax system. His media persona was no different from how I saw him in "public". Quote
August1991 Posted March 9 Author Report Posted March 9 Jacques Hébert - I met him once in person at the Ritz in Montreal. In person, truly creepy guy. Public persona totally different from writings. Quote
eyeball Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 Scott Fraser, Josie Osbourne...fought back to back with them during the Salmon Wars. I was still a teen when I met Homer Stevens - soft-spoken really principled, another salty fisherman...genuine. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal

This i sorta remember. ===== Does any poster remember meeting Diefenbaker in person? Where, when? From all accounts, he was a populist, crowd-pleaser - like Trump. Quote

No, I did not. ==== John Crosbie. We all knew him in public. I met him several times in private. His public persona was more accurate - more true to his self. Quote

Canadian Politicians You Have Met -In person vs Public persona It's not unreasonable to believe you simply may be imagining all the politicians you've met. I've never met any of them. How do I know if they're real or not? We've gone from 6 degrees of seperation to 3 in my lifetime but you're down to like one. You must be ancient. You ever met Churchill or Washington?
