Hicksey Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Can you say majority? Quote "If in passing, you never encounter anything that offends you, you are not living in a free society." - Rt. Hon. geoffrey Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Gain seats in Quebec through giving away our money to them will cost seats in the West. Sleeping with the Quebecois destroyed the Mulroney PC's. If Harper is truly commited to empowering provinces by haivng Ottawa get out funding Health, Education and many other items in provincial jurisdiction, then he has a chance of not meeting the same fate as Mulroney. But I can speak for many Albertans, we want the same treatment as Quebec in dealing with our own money and programs. Most Albertans will vote for the party that gives us that, we haven't seen it from the CPC yet, its just more Quebec, Quebec, Quebec. Your leader is originally from Ontario, so he has a good perspective on what will satisfy the east as well as the west. There are opportunities there for compromise, if you're patient. It might not be 100% the way you'd like to see it go, but if you can't trust Harper (and by this I mean YOU) then who can you trust ? Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! shoop Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 The CPC is doing fine Nationally. If you are going to rant against Harper "sleeping with the Quebecois" you really have to look at what Mulroney did that lead to the rise of the Reform Party and their big breakthrough in 1993. *Awarded the CF-18 maintenance contract to a firm in Quebec when a Western firm (from Manitoba IIRC) had submitted a technically and financially superior bid. *Mulroney's obsession with trying to amend the Constituion, Meech Lake and Charlottetown come to mind. *Introduction of the GST. Albertans won't react en masse to what Harper has done so far. They see the value of the tradeoffs needed to build a majority. Your howls of protest are pretty weak. Have you thought of starting your own party? Perhaps you could revive the Social Credit Party of Canada? Quote
