No coincidence there? I seem to remember that right after the debate many Democrat pundits started to say the guy has to go. And I would say that caused the donors to pull out. Joe was trailing in the polls for most of the campaign. Probably the reason he scheduled the debate so early. Quote

Quote “How do you think we feel?” a Democratic donor close to the Democratic National Committee and the White House told CNN before Biden dropped out, explaining the mood among donors. “We all feel betrayed that they were not honest with us about his health.” https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/21/politics/inside-bidens-exit-from-2024-race/index.html Quote
CouchPotato Posted March 2, 2025 Report Posted March 2, 2025 Joe Biden's Biggest Donors Abandon Him Quote A number of Democratic donors have withdrawn their support of President Joe Biden as he continues to receive criticism over his performance in this election cycle's first presidential debate. On June 27, Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, met his Republican counterpart, Donald Trump, in Atlanta to discuss issues important to American voters. During the debate, Biden gave a series of incoherent and confusing responses and at times appeared to trail off without finishing his sentences. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/joe-bidens-biggest-donors-abandon-him/ar-BB1poz73 Quote
CouchPotato Posted March 2, 2025 Report Posted March 2, 2025 (edited) Quote WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden has benefited from frustrated Democratic donors and elected officials failing to rally behind a single plan for replacing him, but that may be changing. Biden, who stumbled badly last week in a debate with former President Donald Trump and has struggled to clean up the mess, remains popular among fellow Democrats. But many of the party’s top donors are worried that the 81-year-old president’s frailties will frighten enough voters to ensure that Trump wins the White House in November. Quote But one money-raiser, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive political matters, said he hasn’t seen anything like the ongoing crisis since the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky scandal in the 1990s. Even then, he said, Democrats he was in touch with weren’t calling on Clinton to resign. He said he isn’t calling on Biden to walk away from the nomination, even though he believes Vice President Harris would stand a better chance of defeating Trump. “I’d rather take my chances with her,” he said. “She doesn’t have the age or cognitive issues” and might perform better with Black, women and independent voters. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/democratic-donors-remain-divided-biden-rcna160458 Edited March 2, 2025 by CouchPotato Quote

You've ALSO never answered the question: what candidate was demonstrably and clearly better than Harris? NO ONE polled 5-10 pts better than Trump, but Harris came within 1.5% of Trump's vote count. Harris lost every battleground state. She was destroyed in the electoral college. Quote
