August1991 Posted November 1, 2024 Report Posted November 1, 2024 Years ago, around 1989 or so, there was a photo of Peterson (Ontario PM) and Dukakis together. An American explained to me that in America, a loser is a nobody. We Canadians have an opposition, as he explained, the opposition is still there. This recent BC election made me think. ==== If Trump loses now 2024, he has zero chance. But when Trump lost in 2020 - like Nixon in 1960, he knew that he could try again. Gore knew that he would not have another chance. =============== In the parliamentary system, a loser is still a player. In the US system, the loser is a nobody. Imagine. Quote

August1991 Posted November 4, 2024 Author Report Posted November 4, 2024 Imagine. Trump's life now - to zero. You lose Kamala's life now, you lose. ==== Trump has survived such defeats. 1 Quote
August1991 Posted November 11, 2024 Author Report Posted November 11, 2024 Barack Obama described life as success/failure. For most, as he said, it is private. Politics? The story is public. 1 Quote
