Rebound Posted May 17, 2024 Report Posted May 17, 2024 The lie about inflation is that it’s additive; we haven’t had deflation for a very long time. If your rent is $1,000 a month, and inflation makes it $1,100… then inflation will make it $1,200 after that. Prices just go up and up. If you buy a house, you manage to flatten the biggest monthly expense you have, and if interest rates go down, you can actually reduce your monthly expenses, and if you put solar panels on your roof, your electric bill becomes near-zero after you’ve amortized the panels, which takes about seven years. Learn how to fix and maintain your car, and keep it fifteen years instead of three, and you’ll vastly reduce your second biggest expense. Cook your food at home instead of eating out, and you’ll slash your third biggest expense. These are the paths to financial success and it’s how you’ll beat inflation, whether the rate is 3% or 10%. 1 Quote @reason10: “Hitler had very little to do with the Holocaust.”

What does that have to do with Biden lying in that video about inflation being at 9% when he took office. Or the other big fib about the Michigan report saying over 60% of people feel like they are in good/better shape when it is an index based on points and not on percentage and the score isn't good. I am assuming you didn't actually watch the video. Quote

Its a You Tube video it can't have a virus or anything. The backwards CNN logo is so you don't think it was a actual CNN chyron but the substance of the video brings the receipts. Quote

I am voting for both It's factually incorrect. No denying that. Charitably, I could say it may feel true to Biden. He did step into office in the middle of an unprecedented economic disaster and they did spend the first year trying to navigate that. And after they navigated that crisis (which drove inflation in multiple ways) they (the fed, mostly) did rein in inflation. The Trump stimulus and the Biden stimulus both contributed to inflation, but the primary driver was the pandemic disrupting the supply chain. Supplies go down, prices go up = inflation. At any rate, he should stop saying that. It's false. 1 Quote
