Plan to have drinks with friends after the eclipse -then stay in the hotel, and avoid the traffic when leaving 2. You must be in totality. Nasa has maps with the swath. (Nearby doesn't work. Be in the dark area.) 3. Choose a place with many other people. A public park is good. (Trust me, I've seen two solar eclipses, this is a public event.) 4. In both cases, the weather was good - no clouds Frankly, I reckon the clouds don't matter. Whatever, the sky will darken and the birds will go wonky. Weird event. Then it passes.
