Virtually NO ONE starts a MAJOR campaign without Party backing in ADVANCE including substantial funding from the Party. Very few pols quit their current elected office just to start a campaign. That's why virtually EVERYONE who runs for MAJOR office already has a political office position from which they get an income while running.
