Sen. Rick Scott: Socialists Not Welcome in Florida

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., is "warning socialists and communists not to travel to Florida."

He issued his warning in a Tuesday tweet, adding: "They are not welcome in the Sunshine State."

In an accompanying video, he said: "Let me give you a travel warning: If you're a socialist, communist, somebody who believes in big government I would think twice — think twice if you're thinking about taking a vacation or moving to Florida. We're in the 'free state' of Florida. We actually don't believe in socialism."

He said Floridians actually know people who have lived under socialism.

"It's not good," he said. "It's not good for anybody. If you're thinking about it, if you're thinking about coming to Florida and you're a socialist or communist think twice. We like freedom, liberty, capitalism — things like that."

It's not the first time Scott has warned of the dangers of socialism.

"If we have no bigger plan than to be a speed bump on the road to socialism, we don't deserve to govern, he said in a March, 2022, column for The Wall Street Journal: "Most Republicans in Congress agree, but many live in fear of speaking the truth in Washington."

A few talking points here:

1. Before Rick Scott replaced that Nazi asshat Bill Nelson in the Senate, he was a two term governor. He was very good at that job, and the liberal goose steppers here hated him worse than they hated Trump.

2. He echoes what most Floridians think. We obviously don't need any more tourists here, and liberal goose stepping tourists always seem to cause the most problem (starting fights, walking out on restaurant and hotel bills, etc)  Our roads are clogged EVERY year with tourists from all over the world. We DEFINITELY don't need ANY more people to move here, especially from failing blue state shitholes.

So if you are a socialist (which also makes you a NAZI) save your money and go to Califagula to vacation. They have the ORIGINAL homosexual theme park, (formerly known as Disneyland.)

Imagine Olivia Chow saying "People who support the lack of equity in society stay out of Toronto"

Would that be supportive of"freedom "?

This is a tipping point every reasonable person should see: government hinting at legislation of ideas should raise a warning.

Sen. Rick Scott's recent remarks about socialists and communists not being welcome in Florida reflect a strong belief in freedom, liberty, and capitalism, which aligns with certain principles of individualism and limited government. While many Floridians may share, this is why the senator is not electable at the national level, just the reality.

I want to thank the OP for taking a break from the trannie and sex topics, and actually bringing something to this board.

Not electable at the national level? Senator Scott is a U.S. Senator. He replaced a real @sshole in Bill Nelson.

You are defining socialism as equity in society?

As far as saying people are not welcome, this racist bee itch from YOUR side of the aisle had no problems making threats to most Americans.

Your forum KAREN here has made similar threats to me.

Thing is, it's hard to take these mor0ns seriously. It's just easier to laugh their sorry @sses off.

1. No.

The rest of your post doesn't address my question.

Fair enough. You're claiming the apples versus oranges thing. Okay.

Truthfully, socialism is the complete government ownership and control of the means of production. And socialism is responsible for the most repressive, murderous government regimes in history, from Nazis to Soviet Union communists, from  Cuba to Venezuela. In the state of Florida there is a sizeable population in Miami of Cuban expats who lived under Castro's murderous socialist regime, which is why they came here. Senator Scott was suggesting they are one distinct group that you don't want to praise socialism in front of.

Probably egalitarianism is where major sectors of society are taxed at higher rates until everyone winds up with the same amount of money at the end of the month, regardless of the amount of time, work and effort put into it. We're seen that model fail over and over.

The ultimate irony: If one supports socialism, Florida would not be a comfortable place. A socialist supporter is a mor0n, and Florida's public schools graduate kids a lot more intelligent than that. There are other states where low information socialists would be a lot happier.

1. No I really want to know.  The answer doesn't have any impact on how anyone would feel about DeSantis I would think.

2. Ok.

3. This is the 'slippery slope' argument, ie. if you want any equality then you are going for everyone to have "the same amount of money".  Nobody uses that model, but I can't disagree with your assessment of it.

4. I guess that's all he's saying then.

5. There are Commies, Nazis, saints, and serial killers smarter than either of us.  Don't equate political opinion with intelligence, or either of those with virtue.

6.  Oooooooh... right you're the "Everything about Florida is amazing" guy, I think.  I forgot.

I've spent months and months in Florida and indeed it is amazing but like any place it has endroits with a hard edge.

This was a great exploration of that:

Seemed like a documentary.

Some people thought Ted Bundy was an up and coming intellect, his breezing through law school and his mentors grooming him for a career in politics. Is it possible to have a high IQ and be mentally ill at the same time?

Speaking about The Florida Project, (it allegedly takes place in Kissimmee), I lived in that area (central Florida) for 18 years. I hated every second I was there. I watch a medium high traffic, high density area shithole turn into a VERY HIGH traffic, impossible density shithole. I return to that area only out of necessity, (a few business contacts still there.)

As far as a single mother living in one of those weekly hotels, I saw them cropping up all over Central Florida, including Orlando and some points north on I-4. It's doubtful that the family was living at the Magic Castle Inn And Suites, because it is located on 192, which stretches all the way from St. Cloud right to Disney's main gate. During in season in Central Florida it's almost impossible to get a room, even as there are almost a million hotel rooms (cheap and nice) there. I've seen this especially when there is a construction convention in town.

There actually is such a place as Magic Castle Inn And Suites

http://www.magiccastleinnsuiteskissmmee.us/

There's no way an unemployed waitress/exotic dancer could afford such a place.

(By the way, the ad says this hotel is located on Irlo Bronson Highway. That is 192.)

Housing is expensive in all of Central Florida because people are stupidly moving there in droves every day.

2. You have equated it to a septic trench.  And yet, there it is, in the centre of the great state of Florida ?

3. I actually find your knowledge on this interesting.  I also know Central Florida ... a bit.

4. Why is that ?  People here blame Trudeau (if they're conservative) or Ford (if they're liberal).  Do you folks alternate between blaming Biden and DeSantis ?

Not all of Florida is a paradise. There are some shitholes. School wise, BRoward County is the joke of the state.

Central Florida's main problems was the city father's inability to take Walt Disney's warning seriously. He said "you had better start building roads right now because you're going to see an amount of development beyond your imagination."

Central Florida's problems (and this is from Kissimmee to Altamonte Springs) centers on ass backward zoning (high rise apartments lined up on two  lane roads) millions of people moving there every day thinking there's tons of high paying jobs, and a decision in Lake County to zone all those acres of destroyed orange groves into single family housing units, in the process putting THOUSANDS more cars on the road.

There is nothing to blame Governor DeSantis for. Pretty much everything he has done has benefited Florida's economy and made this place a safer place to live. He has kept the cost of  living down (as much as he could), and he has sent a message to the Nazis in Washington that Florida will not be a dumping ground for illegal aliens.

Everything Unelected Joe has done has destroyed the expanding economy he inherited from Trump. Gas prices are through the  and inflation has made EVERYTHING cost twice as much. That's ALL on Unelected Joe.

Generally speaking, people on the right are keen to cut the ‘socialist’ state up the point where benefits precious to them are lost. To his credit, Scott seems a little more candid than most on what cuts in government spending might mean for popular programs.

Thing is, ENTITLEMENT SPENDING not only cannot be cut, THE RATE OF INCREASE CANNOT BE CUT.  That's by law and it would take a major act of Congress to change that.
