I don't think humanity will do itself in any time soon. In fact, my hope is that humanity manages to explore space properly. Oh there would be good and bad acts involved but hey...what can ya expect? The point is, I think when push comes to shove, man is not capable of blowing up the planet. technically we could...several times over but...I think that our instincts will not allow any of us to actually doom all life on Earth.
