geoffrey Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 I think it was an anti-Western comment. If I went out West and I started saying "you people...what planet am I on? What century am I in?, etc." I think people would not react in a positive way toward me. Furthermore, I think it is a comment said by someone who was looking for attention and is quite desperate. I'd ride out on my horse and lasoo (spelling??) you tml. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

Maybe I'll make it out there one day. At any rate, I hope Harper makes it to 24 Sussex Drive tomorrow. Quote "Those who stand for nothing fall for anything." -Alexander Hamilton
Kiraly Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 Which "race" was it intolerant towards? The western race of course. Whether it was racist (which it isn't technically) or just disrespectful,... The word you are looking for is "bigoted". Quote

Can't have the best food in Canada leaving. I don't know how well an attack like that will work in Quebec. From my limited experience in Quebec (Quebec City, Montreal and some other smaler places) I find that most Quebeckers/Quebecois are the most tolerant people in Canada. I don't expect the non-sepertists having too much of a problem with Harper being from Calgary. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
August1991 Posted January 22, 2006 Author Report Posted January 22, 2006 Most over-used, dumb metaphor of the campaign: Martin criss-crosses country to shore up support The prime minister started the day trying to shore up support in Ontario... But those same polls indicate public opinion is volatile, leaving the main party leaders to embark on one final zig-zag across the country to shore up support. Martin tries to shore up crumbling Quebec base, Harper seeks Ontario gains ...braving the bitter cold to pound the pavement and shore up support with voters. The PQ leader was trying to shore up support for the Bloc Quebecois. Quote
Murray B. Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 ...with Harper being from Calgary. Mr. Harper is the son of an east coast accountant that was born and raised in Ontario but has spent his adult life in Calgary. Like the billionaire lawyer says, Harper cannot know what it is to be Canadian. Only lawyers that are billionaires can relate to every one of us, or at least to the ones that matter.
