CITIZEN_2015 Posted September 30, 2021 Report Posted September 30, 2021 In the US all seniors will receive third dose vaccines but here in Canada in spite of millions of vaccines in the shelves that nobody wants and will soon expire and after a delay, eventually NACI came with a recommendation that in my view is incomplete. It recommends third dose of Covid vaccines for senior in long term homes only but not the overwhelming majority who live independently!!!!. \ https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/naci-recommendation-covid-vaccine-third-dose-sept-28-1.6192455 This is sad as data shows that vaccine effectiveness deteriorates with time. Pfizer effectiveness reduced from a pick of 95% a month after to only 50% and that is in younger people likely more in seniors. THIS IS A MISTAKE. THIRD DOSE MUST BECOME AVAILABLE TO EVERY SENIOR WHO WANTS IR. And later to anyone who wants it. Quote
OftenWrong Posted September 30, 2021 Report Posted September 30, 2021 Not to worry, since the immunity achieved by mrna is so poor and not long-lasting, it’s ineitable. Not only will a third booster be made “available”, but also mandated. Quote
Aristides Posted October 1, 2021 Report Posted October 1, 2021 Makes sense to do LTCs first. This thing goes through them like wild fire if it gets in. Quote

Ever got a booster for tetanus. They are only good for ten years. Hepatitis for about five. Or are you just rolling the dice with all of them? Quote

All it takes to get tetanus is a cut or other wound. All it takes to get hepatitis A is eat in a restaurant that had an infected server or kitchen staff. Quote
Aristides Posted October 3, 2021 Report Posted October 3, 2021 Interesting segment on Global's New Reality tonight about boosters. The Moderna rep said that Canada delaying the second dose will likely delay the need for boosters because it produced a higher level of antibodies. Turns out Dr. Skowronski was right about delaying the second dose. Two researchers in Montreal said just concentrating on measurable antibodies is a mistake and doesn't tell the whole story when it comes to immunity. T cells remain dormant until they see the virus and then wake up to produce the antibodies to fight it. Quote

That way you will be less afeared of getting a little cut or other wound. Quote

Anecdotal science done without controls is just great. Quote

I'm not dumb enough to think everything that has cut or punctured me over the years was squeaky clean. Unlike you, I know I'm not immortal or favoured by the gods. Quote

In my view you are free to turn yourself into a veritable pincushion if it makes you feel safe. Maybe if you get enough shots you’ll live forever. Quote

Right now third dose boosters are for seniors in long term homes only/ Not a wise restriction by NACI. Hopefully our second dose effectiveness will last longer because of the time gap between first and second dose (70 days in my case) but in Israel immunity was cut in half after 6 months with 21 days of time gap. Im glad you will get what you want. Imagine, millions of people have now screwed up their immunity based on bad advice. Its too bad we dont have time to fully understand the situation and are making up new rules and plans daily. That is why the mandates are such a stupidity on the part of government. Quote
Aristides Posted October 3, 2021 Report Posted October 3, 2021 (edited) The 21 days was the initial minimum between doses specified by the manufacturers. As experience was gained with the vaccines it was found that going 12 weeks gave the best results. This was no big surprise because just about every other vaccine works that way. Some people just don't want to understand or learn. Edited October 3, 2021 by Aristides Quote

I want third dose booster shot at the end of the year and based on NACI's recommendation I don't get it. Who has screwed up immunity? The bad advice I can think of was those unfounded claims by some not experts in the field who without any shred of evidence made unfounded allegations against Covid vaccines and hence many decided not to vaccinate and some are dead (or will be) or dying or sick (or will be).
