CITIZEN_2015 Posted April 4, 2021 Report Posted April 4, 2021 (edited) The CEO of a B.C. biotechnology company says the treatment his firm has developed for COVID-19 is sitting on shelves while people continue to die, despite it being approved for use by Health Canada in the fall. "Canada was quick to authorize it. The federal government moved quickly to procure it. So we signed a procurement agreement and bought doses back in November But because of some decisions that happened at the provincial and territorial level, through committees that are making decisions on recommendations of use, thus far this treatment has been used in almost no one in Canada. The U.S. FDA approved it for use in patients 12 years of age and older who have tested positive for COVID-19 and who display mild to moderate symptoms but are at risk of progressing to a more serious form of the illness. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/abcellera-bamlanivimab-carl-hansen-kapelos-1.5974126 If there is no sufficient data then why FDA and Health Canada approved the treatment? Why they didn't conditionally approve it while monitoring the data like US did? Do we have too many governments and decision making bodies in Canada?, Too much of costly bureaucracies and duplications and hence higher taxes and more waiting times for things to be done in Canada?. OftenWrong Posted April 7, 2021 Report Posted April 7, 2021 The entire concept of "treatment", as opposed to vaccine, has been downplayed and ignored by the media. I didn't hear any government reps talking about it either. But I have read that various treatments were identified which helped people survive the virus. It explains why the number of deaths in most countries in the world have slowed to almost stopped entirely, even though the number of infections have gone up. Why are they not approving treatments? Perhaps because it contradicts the narrative that we are helpless before the virus, other than hiding and waiting for new vaccines to be developed by companies owned by the billionaire class. Those treatments do not make them any money, nor do they help to shut down the world. Quote

Death numbers can also be explained by the younger people getting this. But still, if an ICU is overwhelmed they have to ship patients to other regions and people who need an ICU for any number of reasons that don't involve COVID-19 may be effected. (Grave Trauma, Important surgery or Cancer) Quote

(Grave Trauma, Important surgery or Cancer) Since that means that most people won't die of it now, the concern is that it overloads the health care system. We have been over this before. Money can be used to build additional Covid clinics, and for training. It amounts to the country being shut down, held "hostage" because we have a shitty health care system which politicos chipped away at and neglected for decades. String them up... Quote
