I'd say all the people driven off their lands by Canadian-registered mining or other companies should be allowed to come to Canada.

As long as they stay at your house, and as long as whatever funding they need for housing, food, welfare or health comes out of your pocket.

About 3m+ Canadians go to Europe ... if we're counting the UK.

.

Closer to four. And as per that any visa requirement for Canadians would not be followed by the UK.

We want a trade agreement with Europe, it's the the EU who wants to tie trade to visas. Why should we agree to that?

Because we really want the trade agreement.

Because we really want the trade agreement.

Well if the EU doesn't want one, there is no point. We don't want to be part of the EU.

Well, so far, it looks like they want it.

I hope so. They have enough problems with movement between their own members, we don't want to become part of that.

The EU wants to impose visa regulations as part of a trade agreement, that is about sovereignty, not trade.

They have no say over who we let in. The EU has reciprocity legislation. We're not living up to our end of it, even if it is within our jurisdiction.

Why? Because other trade agreements have done us so much good?

Maybe we should ignore Europe and do a trade agreement with the UK instead.

We aren't part of the EU, they can stuff their reciprocity legislation. Giving up the right to require visa's is all about sovereignty.

The insistence by Eurocrats that all members of all states be free to move wherever they want is what's breaking up the EU.

We probably live more comfortable and prosperous lives than at any time in our history. There's a reason that both the Conservatives and Liberals push free trade.

We aren't part of the EU, they can stuff their reciprocity legislation.

So we have a choice then - we can tell them to stuff it, or follow their rules so we aren't subject to Visas.

Giving up the right to require visa's is all about sovereignty.

We're not giving up the right - we're making a strategic concession.

So you think legislation passed by the European Parliament should be binding in Canada. We had no say when those countries were let into the EU and we would be giving up the right to require visas from any other country they let into their club without our consent. That has everything to do with sovereignty.

Yes they can stuff it. If they want me to get a visa to enter the EU, I will get one. I'm starting to understand why the Brexit side won.

I didn't say that it should be. I said they have their rules. If we want Visa free access, we have to follow them.

We're not giving up anything. We can slap visas on France tomorrow if we want. We'll simply have to live with the consequences.

Yes they can stuff it. If they want me to get a visa to enter the EU, I will get one.

From an economic standpoint, that is completely undesirable.

The corporations that drove them out can be responsible for resettlement.

They are saying that if Canada imposes a visa requirement on one EU country, they will impose one on Canada for the entire EU. That is it not acceptable.

That's the way their system works. That's not up to us.

I wonder what that will do to tourism. I remember when France put on a visa requirement for Canadians and others in the late 80's, their tourism declined. That didn't last too long.

Indeed, and that's only the top 15 total countries, far from all of Europe is represented there. Also, Canadian travel abroad has increased a lot year over year. Look at Impact's link to see the increases from 2014 to 2015 alone. Pretty safe to say that current numbers will be even higher than 2013.

Sure it is up to us but it won't be if we cave.

It wouldn't be so bad, you would only need one visa for the entire EU.
