And it's called horrible negotiations.

Why? Opening lines of communication only enhance progress.

Lines of communication were already open. He had overwhelming leverage to secure some human rights in exchange, and failed miserably. He's the worst negotiator in history.

Even though a majority of Americans support Obama's efforts to improve ties with Cuba?

It's a huge step towards improving US relations with Latin America. Why do you have a problem with that Shady?

In fact, there is a possibility that Obama will visit Cuba before his time is up. Imagine that.

But, of course, as expected, huge opposition from the Republicans.

I'm all for it. But use it to get some human rights concessions. Don't just be a photo op for a dictator. You're too much about symbolism and not enough about substance.

Oh and let's not forget Cuba today! The embassies. His approval rating will continue to move upwards. Obama is taking no prisoners as he rides out his last years. Good on him!!

Yippie!

Soon Iran will be allowed to have nukes, and Obama will have earned that Peace Prize he was given. AND, he sings too!! If he gives Cuba nukes, I'll start singing too!!

And Obama has finally chosen to speak out against racism.. It's about time!! He grew a pair in the last few years at the helm.

Has he chosen to speak out against black-on-black violence? Or only against violence when he can stir the pot?

Black on black violence is misleading. Blacks commit violence on blacks because they congregate in the same neighbourhoods, same as white on white crime, latino on latino crime etc. But using those terms is a nice way to detract from other issues.

If black lives matter your post is sheer hypocrisy and racism.

This is what I said.

If black lives matter your post is sheer hypocrisy and racism.

How would you arrive at that conclusion. Does the post refer in the slightest way that black lives dont matter....

See below, in response to both On Guard for Thee and Cybercoma.

If black lives matter your post is sheer hypocrisy and racism.

And your post is hysterical hyperbole.

The point I was making was that it is not only slaying of "unarmed" blacks that are atrocities; the endless gang wars, stray bullets that kill children and behavior that is frankly savage is also worthy of condemnation. There are examples such as the gang of 50 blacks that beat up a man breaking up a fight on this truck. But to my mind, even worse, are the constant killings and criminality that prevents black people from escaping these conditions. It is racist to focus only on interracial killings since those are quite rare.

And nobody thinks those things are ok. Why would you even imply as much?

What I am saying is that posts that prioritize either police killings of blacks, or black attacks on whites over intra-race violence devalue black lives. Blak lives matter.

Nobody's prioritizing anything but you. People don't need to preface every post about bad things with all the other tangentially related bad things every time they post.

Obama broke into a rendition of Amazing Grace during his eulogy. He also took the time to address racial issues in America. It's about time quite frankly.

I suppose with not much time left he is focusing on building up his legacy. Good for him.

If examined by his economic policies rather than speechifying, Obama has been a disaster for most African Americans....except for his wealthy friends of course! Quick example: bailing out overleveraged Wall Street banks rather than forcing renegotiating misleading and outright fraudulent mortgages has damaged more blacks and whites in America.

Anybody who believers exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist.

Obama is continuing his legacy.

"President Barack Obama next week will become the first sitting President to visit a federal prison, the White House announced Friday."

"Obama will visit El Reno Federal Correctional Institution in El Reno, Oklahoma, next Thursday, where he will meet with inmates and law enforcement officials, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said."

What is his mandate?

"At a news conference last week, Obama said reforming the criminal justice system was a top priority for his remaining time in office." "On Tuesday, Obama will speak at the 106th Annual NAACP Convention in Philadelphia, where Josh Earnest said the President will outline "injustice" in the system and highlight ideas for reform."

Again, good for him. About time!

It is about time. How much money are they piddling away, and lives are they ruining, by throwing people in jail who got caught smoking a joint in the wrong state for instance?

And he very well knows the lockup rate for black Americans. This reform is long overdue. The question is, "Would this happen under the watch of a white President'?

Well that's an interesting question. Of course we all know about the concept of justice being blind, but we also know it traditionally hasn't been color blind.

Well, he's the first sitting president to visit a federal prison (which surprises me) and he's black. I hope he draws attention to the issues of justice.

Maybe blacks need to quit committing crimes at the massive scale that they are. Or do you support for the justice system to simply look the other way when blacks commit crimes in order for less of them to be arrested?

Do we really need to educate you on why blacks are imprisoned more than any other population. Honestly, I thought the reasoning for the incarceration of blacks was well understood. Perhaps I'm wrong and a conversation needs to take place.
