Topaz
Crown is calling the main characters of the PMO such a Wright and former lawyer Perrin and Harper may be called by either side but if he refuses, Canadians will ask why, if you nothing to hide? https://ca.news.yahoo.com/nigel-wright-former-pmo-staff-senators-mps-testify-031158322.html
On Guard for Thee
I doubt like hell Harper will ever take the stand. Lying under oath is a whole lot different than lying in QP.
overthere
ah the usual rush to judgement. What time is the execution?

Smallc
ah the usual rush to judgement. What time is the execution? I believe it's at noon. Coffee and snacks to follow.
Topaz
Who is rushing to judgement? Its a view and what's your view if Harper would appear if called or are you going to say, you don't have one?
Smallc
Who is rushing to judgement? Quite clearly, you, as you do with any situation involving Harper or a Conservative.
On Guard for Thee
Harper has already intimated he has no plans to testify. His only excuse so far is that he feels he has nothing of value to add to the case. He better coe up with something better than that if he wants to avoid bad PR. overthere
I thought Duffy was on trial. Forgive me for not understanding our justice system. If Harper does not testify, then Harper is guilty of something awful. But we already knew that, for he is Satan incarnate. Where is jacee on this? On Guard for Thee
Ever pondered the question why Duffy is on trial for receiving a check, but Wright is not for writing it. The one reason I have always come to is because they want Wright on the stand, and thats where hes headed. He could conceivably be charged after, depending on what is revealed and what the RCMP already have. In any case it is all stuff that emanated from the PMO, and its just a little naive to think he knew nothing of it.

Duffy to shut up and pay his bill? Everything else was His fault and it seems like the most the PMO office is guilty of is trying to sweep this under the rug using personal not taxpayer money. I honestly don't feel this is a big deal. If this bothers you than please for your healths sake do not read anything about Queens park. overthere
I hope there won't be too much crying here if Harper does not go to jail right after the Duffy trial ends.

Otherwise they would haul him in on charges too. Perhaps, and it is speculation, the faster this is done with the better all of them are, from the Prosecuting Attorney to the judge and aon down. Topaz
My view on Harper and the Tories, are judged by THEIR actions as a party and as the PM and when the Conservatives, especially the former Progressive Conservative, get a realty check on this party actions, then maybe Canadians will could have a better government running it. Ash74
Do you understand why there are any charges at all... Yes four conservative senators (yes it should be abolished and I am pissed the senate still exists) were lying about their expenses and got caught. Duffy either wouldn't or couldn't repay it so Nigel cut him a check for 90 grand and change from his own money. Seems pretty trivial. Wrong and slimy but I live in Ontario . This dont hold a candle to what we got going on. Edited March 5, 2015 by Ash74

Negative. They have already subpoenaed him, along with all the others. No immunity. He could be charged later if there is evidence. He may be no dummy, but hes not above the law. Thats bribery and a criminal offence, when it involves a sitting senator. It is just as illegal to offer the check as to accept it. It goes far beyond fiddling an expense account. The other three counts are Bribery of official, frauds of government and breach of trust. You want me to say burn him. Let me get you the match. I don't get the bribery charge either without getting the guy that cut the check. Makes no sense at all. BUT I live in Ontario. This is NOTHING compared to what we got going on in Queens park
