Reply box not word wrapping

Strange issue with this reply box with me over the past few days. The text goes off to the right when I type, and the scroll bar appears at the bottom.

Anyone else seeing this? I am on FF with adblock on a win 7 PC..... all other sites work fine for me.

Please provide a screen shot if you can.

I am on Firefox too but on a linux box. Things look fine to me.

My Firefox was okay, but it's failing to word wrap tonight until I post. It's kinda annoying.

Screen shot? How do you provide a screen shot? You can't upload anything to this place can you?

Edited to add that it seems to be an extremely intermittent thing. My post here word wrapped properly, as did the next post I made after posting here. No idea what was different about the first post...

Edited again to add that the lack of word wrap is occurring again.

I see it happenning to me once in a while too.

The solution is to use the Full Editor feature where the word-wrapping stays within the text box.

Not really. It still happens using full editor. Happens constantly to me. If I click on the little box on the upper left side to hide the codes then word wrap works, but not otherwise.

FACEPALM

Clearly, some of you guys are confused.

If I click on the little box on the upper left side to hide the codes then word wrap works, but not otherwise.

That is the Full Editor.

If you see all of the codes then you are NOT in the Full Editor but rather, you are in the old-fashioned editor.

Okay. The problem is that I can't separate out different quotes I want to reply to in the full editor.

I am unsure of what you want to do. I will take a guess but if I am wrong, please be more specific and provide a link to an example of what you want to achieve, if possible.

Here is my guess. You want to do something like this:

Okay. The problem is that I can't separate out different quotes I want to reply to in the full editor.

BREAK UP

after posting here. No idea what was different about the first post...

CLOSE THAT QUOTE

Edited again to add that the lack of word wrap is occurring again.

whatever

Is the above the sort of display you want to create?
I did 2 different things. I used the Multi-Quote feature to automatically string all of those quotes in 1 post and I manually BROKE UP 1 quote.

With the exception of being less snarky than you, yes.

The 'manual' breaking up of long quotes doesn't function very well in my experience.

I understand how the lack of word-wrapping can make that more difficult. I suggest you break up the quote in the Full Editor window and then click back to the good old-fashioned editor to copy-paste the opening and closing quotes just like we had to do before.

I suggest that everybody changes their Options (top-right button; looks like a cloud with a red rocket) in the Full Editor window to select Paste as plain text by default and Clear my saved content.

As far as the Multi-Quote feature is concerned, click on the Multi-Quote button associated with each post to which you want to reply.

Actually, I have trouble breaking up the quote in the full editor.

Actually, I have trouble breaking up the quote in the full editor.
Place your cursor where you want the line break to occur.

Press the Enter/Return key.

SIGH

Now I am even more confused because you just did what you said you have trouble doing. You clearly are able to do it --- you just do not know it. Your line break follows my words "...and then" in what you quoted above.

That doesn't let you break up quotes to respond in segments.

SIGH

When I place my cursor where I want the line break to occur and press enter it give me a space within the quote. If I hit enter ten times I'll have ten spaces inside the quote, much like this. It does not break the quote up.

I exited the full editor in order to break the quote up.

Correct. That is how you do it.

That doesn't let you break up quotes to respond in segments.

Correct. There is no automatic function that allows you to take somebody's writing out of context and there never was. In this regard, nothing has changed. Maybe that will be possible in the future but not yet.

This is the exact opposite of what you said earlier.

That is correct but you are half-way there. Now, you have to fulfill the second half of my instruction:

I understand how the lack of word-wrapping can make that more difficult. I suggest you break up the quote in the Full Editor window and then click back to the good old-fashioned editor to copy-paste the opening and closing quotes just like we had to do before.

-------

The following code:

[quote name="Charles Anthony" post="1040520" timestamp="1426973230"]
I understand how the lack of word-wrapping can make that more difficult. I suggest you break up the quote in the [b]Full Editor[/b] window
[/quote]
yadda yadda yadda

[quote name="Charles Anthony" post="1040520" timestamp="1426973230"]
[size=6]and then click back to the good old-fashioned editor [color=#ff0000]to copy-paste the opening and closing quotes[/color] just like we had to do before.[/size]
[/quote]
blah blah blah
will appear thusly:

I understand how the lack of word-wrapping can make that more difficult. I suggest you break up the quote in the Full Editor window

yadda yadda yadda

and then click back to the good old-fashioned editor to copy-paste the opening and closing quotes just like we had to do before.

blah blah blah

Line 3. is the closing quote.

Line 13. is the opening quote copy-pasted manually into the code using the old-fashioned-same-as-it-has-always-been-for-at-least-a-decade-minus-the-word-wrap-issue editing window.

Lines 5. to 12. inclusive represent 9 carriage returns.

Lines 4. and 16. are my thoughtful contributions to the discussion.

What changed from when this was easy?

Exactly. Switch from this editor to that editor, copy and paste the coding, switch back, format appropriately, insert your replies, blah blah blah.

This software is a mess.

What about not having to jump through all these hoops just to make a post? Something is broken in the formatting of the reply box. If I turn the switch off in the top right corner (which allows me better break up of quotes) it does not word wrap and goes off the screen to the right -------------------->>>>>>>

With the switch on, there seems to be no issue with word wrap, but then the quoting is an absolute mess. IN both cases it makes it more difficult to properly post and make proper replies.
