No word on the defense side. http://www.theglobeandmail.com//news/politics/harpers-chief-of-staff-among-aides-subpoenaed-to-testify-at-duffy-trial/article22825647/ As is pointed out in this article that has always been a question in my mind is why is it a crime for Duffy to recieve the 90k, but the offering of it is not? I do hope they manage to get Harper on the stand. Quote

On Guard for Thee Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Oh no, after that we have Wallin and Brazeau, Arthur Porter and of course Delmaestro is in the fray as well. Lots of fun, yet to come. Quote
overthere Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 I hope you aren't disappointed, again. That would be hard to handle, again. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
On Guard for Thee Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Who would be disappointed, watching Harpers chickens come home to roost will be quite interesting Im sure. Quote

It's still illegal to bribe a senator... but it is all about what the Crown thinks that they can prove... if they don't think they have a case, then they won't press charges... I like to just refer back to a moment in QP when Mulcair got to his feet ad asked Harper very simply, just show us the check. Of course Harper scurried under his bench at that point, I think I heard something come out of his lips as he did that sounded like, let me be very clear...... Quote
Topaz Posted February 7, 2015 Author Report Posted February 7, 2015 Maybe there's wasn't a cheque, perhaps they did it online but in any way it was done, I like to see Wrights bank accounts and see if it really came out of his account and if the Conservative Party paid HIM back. Quote

Now that would make for an interesting twist if they could show the money actually came from party funds. You would have a case for the PMO directly providing a bribe to a sitting senator, and then throwing him under the bus when the you know what hit the fan. Quote

As Karl-Heinz has shown us if you are bribing, a traceable record is not the way to go. Unless they flip a witness.....and so on up the tree, this is going nowhere. You need a source......b/c there is no ATM receipt showing up. If there was a whistleblower we'd know by now......the smoke is thick but the fire was suffocated long ago. Quote

I have pondered if the reason they havent brought any charges against Wright is if its so they can put him on the stand. Quote

A better analogy would be PM Jean Chretien, who stole $200 million of our money to gift to his friends and party, and got away clean with it. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!

Naw that was embezzlement and misappropriation of gov't funds to grease party faithful......that's more like the G20 Fund. Now the link between Adscam and Airbus is more tangible. Duffy-gate or whatever they're calling it is not as big and greasy.....just stinks like it does. Edited February 7, 2015 by Bob Macadoo Quote
Ash74 Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 This is best they got? 90 grand that was paid back and they are in trouble for trying to pay it back? Federal NDP just got busted for over 2 mill and they are fighting it. Not being partisan here. If the Ontario Liberals gave back the 1.1 billion for the gas plants I would say good job. Ash74 Posted February 8, 2015 Report Posted February 8, 2015 Nah. It was a cover up. I place election fraud and misuse of tax payers money ahead of that. Could really careless about the Duffygate thing. Now the robocalls you have an argument but compared to what we live with in Ontario. Seems like a jaywalking charge Quote “Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains.”― Winston S. Seems like Harper may have got away with that one though. Harper did cause they could not prove he gave the order. The guy who did the calls is now in jail. don't see how that was a misuse of taxpayer money. I think he was paid by the Conservative party but wouldn't bet the bank on that Who is in jail for the gas plants? Not excusing any. Both are crimes against democracy. I just do not believe JT is going to do any better. I have said it before I look for the government that will hurt the least because none of them has shown me that they do it well. Have not seen a good Premier in Ontario since I have been following politics and have yet to see a good Prime Minister. Bob Rea was terrible but his party was not ready and the recession did most of the damage he just helped burn down the building. Harris cut and cut and cut while the federal government of the day downloaded and downloaded. Than came McGuinty. ugh, the worst, ten years blaming the last guy as he raised taxes, raised hydro rates, raised the dept and built a nanny state. Wynne is following suit with being investigated for election tampering. But this all leads to me saying it don't matter cause they are all crooks. I am just going to vote for the one that will hurt me the least Quote “Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. More importantly though is I think Harper has somehow developed some sort of idea he has a divine right to be in the PMO which is possibly one reason he constantly tries to run rough shod over the constitution and the charter. I dont like that and not just because it ends up costings tie and money while the SC reigns him in yet again. He needs to go. Quote
