Boges
That's some good thread shift right there.
WIP
How did a query about the Tories being nice to Toronto become a question on world wealth distribution? The only wealth distribution the Tories, or any of the other parties are interested in is the distribution from those who won't vote for them to those who will. Because virtually all issues intersect and tie in together. During the last provincial election here in Ontario, the Liberals, Tories and NDP, all had their campaign promises....most of the big ones being completely impossible, because under today's new globalization regime, local governments...and in most cases, even national governments don't have the authority anymore to carry out their promises! Once you lock into free trade schemes that punish nations for enforcing environmental, labour and health laws, everything they promise is BS! The main difference is that Tory policies hurt cities and benefit suburbs and more suburban sprawl. Should it be a surprise that so many citydwellers feel stuck with the Liberals or the NDP because we know the Tories are working directly and deliberately against our interests? Michael Hardner
The "safe facilities" campaign is just another ruse to appear to be doing something, while doing nothing of substance! Then why do some companies not sign on ? MQN has campaigned for real change in Bangladeshi worker safety: http://en.maquilasolidarity.org/ If Global Trade is going to happen, and it is, this is exactly the kind of change we should hope to happen. It's easier to complain than to engage in real change.

And so the Tories rightfully ignore those people as they'd never vote for them anyway. Harper won a majority without taking any of Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. Urban Toronto is some 2 million people. BUT it's surrounded by Suburban Toronto or Ford Nation, and that's surrounded by The Regions of Peel, Halton, York and Durham regions. Densely populated Suburbs or people that drive to work. It's the GTA that the Tories are courting, not SOB (South of Bloor) Toronto.
