maplesyrup Posted November 3, 2004 Author Report Posted November 3, 2004 I think the NDP needs economic legitimacy. People seem to think that the Cons and Libs will manage the economy better than the NDP. I find this sentiment odd as the Conservatives and the Liberals have both demonstrated that they are capable of running up large deficits. The Alberta Alliance is screaming about how the PC's have pillaged the Heritage Trust Fund.Strange how the NDP can get elected provincially but not nationally. Also odd that they are federalists when they keep losing at this level (but are successful provincially). Cartman....I agree, and that is why Jagrup's election in Surrey Panorama Ridge is so significant for the New Democrats in BC. But your right about the federal scene, the NDP cannot just focus on missle defence, even though they will score major points on this issue. Layton needs to run some candidates from the business community in winnible ridings as well. ---------------------------------- Sometimes fundamentalism gets confused with religion, and they are not necessarily the same. Fundamentalists are crazy as they will not reason. Blaikie is a United Church minister, and Tim Stevenson, probable NDP candidate in Van Burrard in the May 2005 election in BC is a United Church minister as well. JWayne625 Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 The NDP has certainly lost their footing. As they attempt to move closer to centre, they lose their traditional support. Labour does not seem to be supporting them anymore, and since it was labour who helped form this Party, they seem to have lost their relavence. Layton would support the devil himself to avoid another election. I think he knows that if Canadian's go to the polls any time soon the NDP will in all likelihood lose what little support they have right now. I used to vote NDP but that was when they actually supported Canadian values, not corporate values. Quote
Big Blue Machine Posted November 8, 2004 Report Posted November 8, 2004 Everyone trusts the NDP on social issues, but people tend to go to the Libs on economics Quote And as I take man's last step from the surface, for now but we believe not too far into the future. I just like to say what I believe history will record that America's challenge on today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow. And as we leave the surface of Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came and god willing we shall return with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17.
