So if men took their children to the doctor that would be OK?

Why would men be doing that?? They are supposed to be working so women can stay home and take care of their children and in the process, contribute less to CPP!

Jeez I'm learning lot's here today. I'm old enough I can remember a time when we didn't even know how to spell CPP.

And here all along I've been told that women went off to hospital and had babies. But now I've been made aware that that is all just silly rhetoric. Well I stand corrected!

Yes, and people go to the hospital to have haemorrhoids lanced too...I'm not about to spew off a silly cliche over it.

Women use the medical system 3 times that of men, I have never said that's bad or wrong or abusive! But c'mon, birthing is a drop in the bucket...if that.

My mom only worked during the seasonal months of the year. She raised all her and my dad's children and was there to support the grandchildren. I don't recall her living in splendour drawing on her CPP, even after her husband passed away. However, I do know she raised successful children who now contribute to the tax base of the cities they live in.

And who should then take care of the man's child?

I could never hold a candle up to Jaycee or BC Chick and as far as I know, Cyber is male.

And I do hope Jaycee is ok. I haven't heard from her for a while.

I was raised by a single mother who worked all her life until retirement and made sure I was well taken care of whilst at work. She paid for that herself and she also didn't live in splendour on her pension. She was comfortable and may she rest in peace. I've paid and continue to pay a lot of taxes. It's how our system works and it works fine by me.

A drop in the bucket? Here's a basic scenario you should be able to understand: man impregnates his wife, she might just go to the doctor after she becomes aware, doctor might just schedule an ultrasound to make sure baby is developeing well, she goes to hospital to deliver the baby. Well now that racks up a score of 3 - zip for her visits to the healthcare system compared to his. Is this the nonsense you are trying to flog as women overusing the system?

I don't understand your issue with women and the healthcare system. Perhaps you and Shady should start a new thread.

Dude, I think you're fighting the wrong person...or the wrong issue.

Naw. I'll leave you to struggle with whatever your "girly issues" are.

Look, I always put you a step above the other feminists (cyber, jacee, Bc chick etc), but if you can't see the intended manipulation in that article, maybe i'm wrong about you.

I could never hold a candle up to Jaycee or BC Chick and as far as I know, Cyber is male.

Is the implication in this reply that a male cannot be a feminist?

No, in fact the frustrating part is that I'm not sure you ever even understood the initial point of the topic.

Of course they can, feminist is just a label anyway. And I thought he was comparing me to 'women' on this forum.

I understand that some people think women draw more CPP, but have done absolutely nothing to prove that empirically verifiable claim.

Of course....it is a routine behaviour for Canadians to use American data to draw conclusions, right or wrong. And according to this CBC story (which also refers to the American data), this time it is wrong:

It turns out the wage gap is more severe in Canada than in the U.S., according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Canadian men on average get paid more than 20% more than their female colleagues, giving the country one of the highest gender gaps among the 30 OECD nations.

Only Korea, Japan and Germany rank higher than Canada in paying men more than women. Canada is in fourth place along with the United Kingdom, according to Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development statistics.

http://www.cbc.ca/strombo/news/equal-pay-for-equal-work-a-look-at-the-wage-gap-between-men-and-women-in-va

that's an interesting play you have here... I've bold-highlighted/red coloured a statement you appear to have simply dropped into your quoted reference. It appears no where within your provided link.

you claim "it's wrong"... you claim through quoted reference, that the gender wage gap in Canada is greater than that as compared to the U.S..... as attributed to the OECD and a 2010 comparison. Is it wrong?

no, as you claim/reference, it is not wrong.... you are wrong and your data monitoring for those who would "dare to source data from an American reference", has been further showcased for the anal-retentiveness that it is!

I understand that some people think women draw more CPP, but have done absolutely nothing to prove that empirically verifiable claim.

With all the stats that have put forward, there is still nothing that proves anything. I think based on life expectancy alone the ratio of money paid in and money taken out, simple logic would indicate that it does skew more towards women than men.

Now, listen carefully;

1) Women should not pay more for this.

2) IMO, society (especially the youth) does not do nearly enough for seniors (men or woman) - in fact it's shameful, and no matter what they get, it's not enough.

simple logic would indicate that [CPP payouts] skew more towards women than men.

Then you haven't read a god damned thing I've written. I've told you numerous reasons why it doesn't, despite women living longer. Like I said before, I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you. More to the point, I provided a reference from Parliament's own website that indicates that women draw $0.60 for every $1.00 that men draw. It's pretty flipping clear that women do not draw more CPP than men. Where you keep repeating this claim in spite of the mountains of evidence towards the opposite has me really wondering about your ability to think rationally.
