The federal Liberals and NDP are gleefully watching the “cat fight” taking place in the Ontario riding of Oakville North-Burlington. Former Conservative volatile rising star Eve Adams and challenger Natalia Lishchyna are in a very public and nasty battle.

Accusations of improper procedure and finger pointing is taking place to the chagrin of party organizers. Natalia Lishchyna claims to have moral high road on her side and Eve has ... Dimitri Soudas. Insiders feel that this is not a fair fight with the controversial and powerful Dimitri pulling the strings in the background.

In frustration, the Conservative Party is postponing the nomination meeting until it can get to the bottom of this dispute. Conservative supporters feel that this is weakening the position of the winner in her campaign against the Liberal and NDP candidates in the coming federal elections.

These nomination battles in all parties are becoming more interesting than the eventual campaigns.

I'm starting to see the problem here. It's not about you not posting links. It's about you starting too many threads that simply report the news. I think this website's goal is to do things a bit differently by establishing clear debates or arguments in the opening posts, as opposed to regurgitating the news and hoping others pick up the discussion. When you start these threads, maybe try adding your own thoughts, opinion, or arguments to the OP so people have something to discuss. This place has always demanded a bit more effort from posters than other places, even if things fly under the radar sometimes.

I have to agree with Cyber on this one. It's starting to feel like going to a class hosted by Google News and then having one of my old professors trying to act like a moderator. Big Guy, I've followed a few of your posts and you do sometimes take a position and then express it well. The unfortunate thing is that you do it rarely - this is a discussion board not a classroom.

Now to the post - I think any candidate that starts to act like this in public is only doing their party/election chance a disservice. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to know that one of the favorite targets of any opposing party is corruption/perceived corruption. By making accusations of each other in a nomination race both of them are simply doing the work of their opponents come election time.

Rather a stupid move in my estimation.

To be clear, you do these things when you contribute replies to threads, but not very often when you're starting them.

Thank you for your comments. I have read and am considering your suggestions. I had hosted an opinion board in the past so my fall back position is to try to continue to generate discussion - based on the issue and not my opinion on the issue (because in most cases I do not have a strong one at the time). I believe the discussion of an issue will live or die on its own merit and the strength and passion of the opposing opinions. I try to keep the discussion away from me but on the issue to dissuade participation by those who seem to choose to attack the poster rather than comment on the issue. I learn nothing from them.

I have noticed that tactic to be working so far on this board with some of the more aggressive and negative posters ignoring my posts. I appreciate that lack of clutter. There are some very knowledgeable and experienced people who post their opinions here. I do prefer quality over quantity when reading other points of view.

Ok - Your homework is to answer Questions 4 to 15 on page 176. Class dismissed. OOPS!!!!

Sorry, reflex action. ;)

.......he doesn't report news.... most often he makes open debate questions in relation to the topic but doesn't take a partisan knee jerk opinion that alot do here......that turns me off to their thread. EG. "Obamacare Website Down" - When can we impeach him?
