Just had to endure a 5 minute rehashing by Evan Solomon of a stupid incident in QP regarding Ed Fast / Nikki Ashton. It is a non-event compared to other behaviours displayed during QP (see Poilievre Smarminess) but Solomon tries his hardest to trump it up into WWIII, even after his panel partisans try to ignore it.

Ashton goes on just to get facetime not realizing she discredits work she does by addressing this. There is ZERO political benefit to report this, only ratings/shocking headlines to the media. I find on many occasions Tom Clark, Evan Solomon, etc. are the biggest contributors to why the decorum is the way it is. They are like CNN, who got their playbook from Jerry Springer.......dump a bunch of garbage into the pen, then let the rutting pigs loose to fight over the spoils.

First of all, IF Nikki Ashton was wrong with what she said about the Environment Minister, then she needs to say, "I stand corrected and I apologize. As far as Fast goes, he is pointing his finger either in a gun shape or a loser shape to Ashton, either way both MP's were wrong and what would Fast point? The reason Evan brought it up was, what happen in QP today with the NDP leader saying about Pierre and MP Easter said about Pierre doing the pigeon dance on his fair election act, which was funny.

He tried to get a fight started and almost pouted when it didn't happened.......luckily Ashton is naive and desperate for attention to fall for it.

Evan didn't do what CTV or SunTV political host haven't done or do BUT this is the second time a Tory has cross the floor to get in the face of a MP, correction third time, the former deputy speaker Royal? cross and hit someone.

I watch CBC to avoid this. Looks like with the budget cuts this is easier to do than real journalism. When in doubt join the crowd.

I watched the CTV version in slow motion. Yes, the gesture could easily have been interpreted as one of those shooting hand handgun gestures. But, so what? Yes, another member of the Tory caucus did cross the floor (behind the screen) and berate another member for attacking the person gesturing. But, so what?

I do agree that Evan Solomon tries very hard to create a controversy where none exists. Daily, I copy the 5 p.m. CBC and the CTV (Don Martin) presentations and then later fast forward through most of the crap the Solomon spouts. Usually, I watch and enjoy only the press gallery sections of both shows. The usual "political panels" with reps from both sides is a complete waste of time with the talking heads regurgitating those scripts that they have been ordered to memorize and spout. I await for the day that Rosie finally takes over from Evan on the CBC.

Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

Nope, sorry, Nikki doesn't have to apologize for anything she may accuse another MP of while sitting in the house!

The same applies for any MP while sitting.

So WHAT???

Maybe Trudeau should try to make the same gesture with the same shout of "boom", get belligerent if called on it, then deny deny deny...

... and we would then see "so what"....

Solomon is not my favorite political reporter... not even close... but it is also a stretch to say that this gesture and response are somehow a "controversy that does not exist".

It shouldn't be, there are more important policy debates to be had. Just an excuse for camera happy goofs to flash their mug. Now Fast is in on it demanding an apology for asking for an apology........nice.

Remember when MPs were expected to have a certain amount of decorum? These MPs are representatives of their constituencies. It is their entire constituencies that they stand in for. Anything done to an MP is done to that MP's constituents.
