jbg Posted February 22, 2014 Author Report Posted February 22, 2014 Another analogy for jbg's thinking is if he thought that the US 2nd Amendment was flawed and that lobby groups should have far less influence on US government and therefore the entire Union should be dismantled and the US constitution ripped up. What is needed is UN reform, not its destruction. I'm not real big on this "Second Amendment" argument. I am mildly pro-gun in the sense that I think a robber should have something to worry about from his victim but it's not one of my major issues. My problem with the U.N. is more fundamental. Bilateral aid gives the donor some control over the recipient's ability to either waste the money or use it for downright harmful purposes such as weapons. Multilateralism shreds that discipline. The more obvious problem is the gross corruption; too obvious for further repetition. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
