Guest Derek L Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 (edited) http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/lenore-zann-l-word-actor-turned-mla-alleges-cyberbullying-1.2461743 So, the long and the short of it: Lenore Zann, a Nova Scotia member of the legislature, has complained to the provincial cyberbullying unit after a high school student tweeted a topless image of her from her acting days, but the teen behind the tweet says he thinks the whole issue has been blown out of proportion. The New Democrat MLA for Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River called police and complained to the newly created cyberbullying unit after Nic Scissons tweeted a screen capture from the Showtime seriesThe L Word in late November. So the teenage boy posted a nude picture of her on twitter, she asked him to take it down, he did and then they had a verbal exchange for several hours…….She then called the RCMP, Cyber bullying unit, his school principle, the school board and his parents…….. The school and local police has since dropped the issue……..An issue that is not new, fore as mentioned, the pic was also released by the Liberal Party during a prior election campaign…… So is Zann making a mountain out of a molehill? I could perhaps feel sympathy for a public figure that had personal information hacked or stolen, but she willingly did a nude scene as an adult actress in an adult TV show………Does she have any legitimate beef here? Nude picture aside, I feel embarrassed for her actions after the fact and that her carrying on only brought more attention to the incident. Edited December 16, 2013 by Derek L Quote

The_Squid Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 So this was in a movie? TV show? Something like that? Sorry... It's public record now. I'm sure tweeting an image is probably a copyright violation, but when you go topless on TV it is now in the public sphere... This isn't cyberbullying... Although it could be, depending on the messages, whether they were harassing in nature, etc.., Quote

Exactly........she says the issue was that the teen implied she could lose some weight......something mean a teen boy would say, but why would an adult get all bent out of shape over the words of a teen? your juvenile taunts aside, could you step-up and support your claim/reference regarding the weight focus/emphasis. Nothing I've read adds any credence to your statement. per the tweets I've read, Ms. Zann has emphasized the issue is not the 'screen-grab' image... it's the harassment (cyber-bullying) that accompanied/followed it. I've read copies of the initial/follow-up tweets posted by the individual that tweeted her image - clearly you haven't! If you had you wouldn't be trivializing the issue/her concern. You double-down by playing the adult versus teen reference... do words lose their harassment/bullying affect based on age? Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted December 17, 2013 Report Posted December 17, 2013 .... do words lose their harassment/bullying affect based on age? Yes...as some members here practice just such a strategy despite it being a violation of forum rules. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
waldo Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 "A Nova Scotia MLA who alleges she was bullied online by a teenage constituent has dropped the complaint she filed with the province’s newly inaugurated cyberbullying investigations unit.Truro-Bible Hill representative Lenore Zann, a former actress, said she is satisfied that police and the CyberScan team have done all they can, and said she has heard nothing further from her alleged bully."
