Guest Derek L Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 Well as Derek pointed out many things have been done by the CPC government has taken some actions. It is wrong that soldiers had to die before actions were taken, and there are still a lot of changes needed. This is true in the military; it is also true throughout Canada and the rest of the world across many societal problems. How many people have to die before we improve road safety, rail safety, child poverty, health care, the environment? Well this true, and I’m certain Army Guy will agree with, one of the few guarantees of modern warfare is that a nation will fight with the military that it has, and that it can take years to replace a existing capability and possibly over a decade to replace capabilities that we have already lost. I advocate for dismantling/reducing a limited amount of capabilities (perhaps submarines would be a good example). I think that this will support the military because instead of trying to too many things half-assed we can do things better (more effectively and safer). The capabilities that get dismantled in the Canadian Forces should be selected based first on Canada's needs of course but also in consultation with NATO allies. Now you’re after submarines? Jesus Christ……..Research the proliferation of post-cold war diesel electric submarines around the world, coupled with the unrestricted submarine warfare conducted by both the Axis and Allies during the War and the impact it played ………. As a former professional hunter of submarines, I can assure you, without a doubt, the best tool to hunt a submarine is another submarine.... Quote

I was refering to submarine sandwiches, brown, white or rye bread is enough choices for our troops. Of course, Canada needs a new fleet of nuclear submarines, WWIII is just around the corner. While we're at it, we should stock up on some nuclear warheads and ICBMs too. Quote

We most certainly do if we wish to further our Arctic claims…..But ICBMs? Nah a fixed land based deterrent isn’t viable for a small force…..if we were to go that way, following the British and French lead would be much more prudent. Quote
