dre Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 Try adding up the amount of power that is generated by wind and multiply by the capacity factor - compare it to the CO2 emitted by natural gas generation and express it as a percentage of human CO2 emissions in a year. You will find its effect is insignificant. Why? That would not make your latest false declarative statement true. Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
TimG Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 Why? That would not make your latest false declarative statement true. That adjective useful is a subjective term. It cannot be shown to be false because the term 'useful' is a opinion in this context. Quote
Hudson Jones Posted November 29, 2012 Author Report Posted November 29, 2012 Bill O'reilly watcher is moved. Quote When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always. Gandhi
Canuckistani Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 you're not seeing the bigger picture here...it absolutely has potential to end our civilization...climate change caused a number of mass extinction events believing human technolgy can save us if there is widespread ecological collapse is very dangerous...being blind to the possibility is more dangerous than accepting it as a potential reality...it's better to be overly concerned with the dangers and be wrong than ignorant and dead... the end of our civilization isn't the end of the ecosystem. ie the world. I think overpopulation will do us in before global warming does, and of course overpopulation plays a part in global warming. But war/disease or famine will reduce our numbers before global warming does. Doubt it will be the end of humans tho, we're pretty adaptable, and maybe next time we'll build a more sustainable civilization. Doubt it tho. Probably just have a large reduction in population and do the dance all over again. Quote
