Guest Peeves Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 They have become as extinct as the Do Do. http://www.imdb.com/list/JVz-JF8ZW-M/ Well maybe a Meryl Streep equals a Bette Davis, but George Clooney is no Catry Grant. http://www.imdb.com/list/wBO8S7ovWWg/ Best I might concede is today we have good T.V. actors. .Ah those were the days........ Uh Ok ok Johnny Depp is pretty good. But he's no James Cagney. And Audrey,,, Julia Roberts can't hold a candle, To Ava either.... Gere? Washes out next to Clift, McQueen or Garfiel, Mitchum, Lancaster........... Quote
Michael Hardner Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 .Ah those were the days........ There's a saying: Complaining about the 'good old days' was so much better years ago... Yes, those old stars lit up the screen, but the screen was a lot newer medium then and was just made for the real Americans that were alive then. None of those old actors ate tofu, or played video games. either. Orson Welles was a great actor, but could he have played Pac Man in the movie redux of the 80s cartoon based on the videogame ? Ok, he played Optimus Prime so maybe he could have done it. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
AngusThermopyle Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 What really surprised me about this list is that Dustin Hoffman and Al Pacino are not on it yet actors like Mat Damon, Kevin Costner and Collin Farrel are. As with most lists its highly subjective I Suppose. Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye

Wells Citizen Cane, is still one of my top favorites along with Casablanca. I often get a laugh at who was first considered for famous movie parts and also the vast difference in some lists of great films or stars. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/top/ Quote
