Black Dog Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Posted August 31, 2012 Well done. I had actually forgotten about that sanctimonious reactionary. I'd like to watch her and Margaret Wente beat each other to death with shovels. Quote
bleeding heart Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 I'd like to watch her and Margaret Wente beat each other to death with shovels. BC_chick Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 The problem with the term "rape" is as I said before is that it makes no logical sense to use the same term to describe what Assange is alledged to have done, with the same word you would use to describe a man that cornered a women in a dark alley or a park trail and forcefully beat and sodomized her. Both are crimes and I'm not saying it's okay to have sex with a woman after she says no, but I agree that the terminology should be different for the two acts. BC_chick Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Rape, broadly, is sex without consent. So if someone can't give consent because they are unconscious, that constitutes rape in my books. If I wake up to my partner having sex with me I would be pissed and the relationship would end. For the rest of my life I would cringe when I thought about that moment. I may or may not press charges depending on the other aspects of the relationship but I can respect another woman's decision to do so. OTOH, if I'm walking down the street and someone throws me in a bush, beats the crap out of me and rapes me repeatedly, I would fear for my life. I would forever be too scared to walk alone. I would have flashbacks and I would always be haunted by the experience. I could not trust and my relationships with men would suffer. I would most certainly press charges and the anger in my heart for that man could never be erased. Yes, both were a violation of my body, both were rooted in a man's sexuality and both were a crime. But the devastation in the aftermath is starkly different. I know it's not popular opinion and certainly not for a liberal woman to say so, but I think brushing both instances with the same brush is insulting to the women who have been brutalized. Having said that, both should have a right to abortion. Then again so should women who conceived in a moment of lust and pleasure. Guest American Woman Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 I dunno Iv engaged sleeping women in intercourse hundreds of times. Wow! You da man!- have problems engaging awake women in intercourse, do you? If you did that to a stranger its certainly rape, but if you already have a consensual sexual relationship its pretty damn normal. Really. It's "normal" for a good part of one's sex life to take place while the other partner is asleep? In this case not only did that consensual relationship already exist it went on for more than a week AFTER. Ah. So one time yes means always yes, with no say in the matter, even regarding things such a birth control. Good to know! The problem with the term "rape" is as I said before is that it makes no logical sense to use the same term to describe what Assange is alledged to have done, with the same word you would use to describe a man that cornered a women in a dark alley or a park trail and forcefully beat and sodomized her. Sorta like how the problem with the term "marriage," as so many have said, is that it makes no logical sense to use the same term to describe what two same sex partners share with the same word you would use to describe the union that a man and a woman share, eh? Wow! You da man!- have problems engaging awake women in intercourse, do you? Nope. And I said "engage" as well meaning by the time theres intercourse everyone is awake. And Iv been woken up by similar behavior by my partner as well, and so far havent called the cops. Sorta like how the problem with the term "marriage," as so many have said, is that it makes no logical sense to use the same term to describe what two same sex partners share with the same word you would use to describe the union that a man and a woman share, eh? No thats not really comparable at all. Gay marriage is the same as straight marriage. Its a legal contract that gives a couple a host of legal rights and next of kin status. A violent attack and rape is completely and totally different than what Assange is alledged to have done. Ah. So one time yes means always yes, with no say in the matter, even regarding things such a birth control. Good to know! Not sure what youre rambling on about here, but the fact that the women carried on a sexual relationship with Assange for a week after this incident speaks to her credibility in bringing these charges. Stands to reason that if she felt Assange had raped her she might have thought hanging around her place having sex all day wasnt such a good idea. But this wasnt an issue until AFTER she found our Assange had been seeing someone else as well. A good lawyer would destroy this women on the stand. She comes across as being full of shit. Guest American Woman Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Nope. And I said "engage" as well meaning by the time theres intercourse everyone is awake. Which is different from the allegation, so one has to wonder why you felt the need to mention it. No thats not really comparable at all. Gay marriage is the same as straight marriage. Its a legal contract that gives a couple a host of legal rights and next of kin status. A violent attack and rape is completely and totally different than what Assange is alledged to have done. Rape is sex without consent, which is what Assange is alleged to have done; Sweden has three degrees of rape charges depending on the severity, so the law does recognize the varying circumstances - but it's still "rape," which is sex without consent. I'm not even going to argue that since I don't have all the facts and wonder how you possibly could, and because it doesn't change the charge for the allegation. A good lawyer would destroy this women on the stand. She comes across as being full of shit. Well, then. Anyone that comes across as "full of shit" to you doesn't have a leg to stand on and is obviously making bogus allegations. Why even bother with questioning or a trial. eh? The media is judgement enough. Makes one wonder why Assange is so afraid to go back and face the music... Quote

He was already questioned, after which the charges were dropped and the chief prosecutors office said he wasnt guilty of anything. And there isnt going to be any trial...
