my freinds and i were heading out on a tree planting expeedition this morning when we were verbally assaulted by a suv full of pampered silver spooners. they were giving us a hard time telling us to get real jobs and laughing at our clothes. i told these aholes that we were helping to preserve the earth and reversing the damage their gas guzzlin suvs were doing to our mother earth gaia. why do people have to be like that. if anyone has ever planted trees under the hot sun you will realize it is one of the most difficult jobs there is. we dont take breaks because we get paid for each tree we plant. these punks can laugh at us but i know i am making a difference to make the world a better place. one of the ahole threw his big gulp at us as they pulled away. no class punks. they missed us with their sugar induced cocktail but being the good environmentalists that we are we picked up the cup and put it in the garbage. i hope you people out here realize the verbal abuse environmentalists have to take at the hands of the greedy pigs. one guy made a ignorant comment about my shirt that said I love GREENPEACE!! it amazes me how ungrateful some members of our so called society really are.

Thankful to have become a free thinker.

And why were they giving you a hard time? You didn't by any chance say something to them about their 'gas guzzling suv' did you?

Nobody believes your made-up story. And believe it or not, most people that own an SUV aren't so-called silver spooners. They're middle-class families with children.

I know pal. That's why I'm trying to enlighten you. Those are facts. Deal with it.

What I don't appreciate is little pricks like you who think they know everything while in reality they know nothing... You are ignorant and arrogant, the worst combination.

This must be the answer to your wet dreams. You were out saving the world, and were targetted by a group of uneducated, unappreciative boors, who didn't recognize your sacrifice and compassion for the earth. You live for this. Martyrdom rules!

You get paid for this? Back in the late 60's when these ideas were just getting started we young folks of the time spent many weekends doing this for FREE!

Times change and so do values, I guess...

Too good for this fallen world, truly.

So this middle class family decided to denigrate tree planters? How sad.

One thing is true, tree planting is very hard work. And it's certainly more of a real job than hawking derivatives.

How many trees did you plant on your weekends. A good tree planter can do a 1000 trees a day - and still there are plenty of areas out there that are NSR (not sufficiently restocked). Feel free to go there on a weekend and have at it.

My thoughts exactly as I read the opening post - along with a few other select thoughts. :P At any rate, the story isn't so much one of "heading out on a tree planting expeedition [sic]" as it is one of heading out to work.

Wonder what you people who mock getting paid for tree planting do for a living, and if it is half as socially beneficial an enterprise as tree planting is. No doubt socialist is sanctimonious about it, but for Canada, tree planting is an important job and one that should be valued, not denigrated.

I'm not sure people are denigrating the work; I think they have some issues with socialist's...style, shall we say.

Who do you think is mocking getting paid for tree planting as a living?

I get that. But this bullshit about planting trees for free just gets to me. I've worked in the woods, both in logging and silviculture. I know how hard the work is and how little it is valued.

Surely there are lots of other ways to take a poke at socialist. I do think he's over the top, but I admit to having a soft spot for him, vs all the little Alex P. Keatons out there. I hope he keeps some of his idealism as he grows up.

Sure, of course you're right. Many of the more demanding and difficult jobs are derided and mocked.

I think I speak for a lot of posters when I suggest that he's extremely aggressive, which is off-putting.

I have to admit I find it kinda funny. Doesn't do much for his credibility tho. But why should all the foamers (as in mouth) be on the right?
