Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 The feds are going to be charging gun owners fees for their license. I'm not a gun owner but one fee with be $80. and another is $60 and they say they need the money to help pay off the deficit and since there's over 394,000 gun owners, they couldn't help themselves not too. http://www.torontosun.com/2012/05/28/gun-license-fees-reloaded $ 80 dollars every five years when I renew my RPAL……………Last weekend spent $ 300 for ammo for an afternoon shooting with my son and nephew…….I’d guesstimate my firearms and optics to be worth between $50k-60k………See where I’m going with this? Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 I wonder what gun owners would have preferred: a) Paying higher licensing fees, but having no gun registry or Having a gun registry, but paying no licensing fees. A. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 I assume that the demise of the registry will mean police will no longer kick down your door with their pistols drawn shouting "WHERE ARE THE GUNS? WHERE ARE THE GUNS?" when they arrive at your home for a routine noise complaint. So I am guessing option B. -k What we’ll save in ALCAN for our hats over five years without the registry will cover the 80 bucks Quote
Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 Assume that once a license is issued, your info is recorded into a database of some sort. It sure is. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 You mean like....a registry? Nope, nothing like the registry...."They" know I have a Licence to own firearms, not what I own. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 That already happens. Gun shops and provincial governments already track that kind of thing. Perhaps in Ontario, not here. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 BTW, if they aren't licensed, they aren't legal You Don’t licence your guns. Quote
Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 Oh yes you will. Harper's going to make you register them...and pay for it too now At least now we know the real reason Harper wanted to kill off the Liberal's gun registry...Harper wanted to implement a new way to tax you. And how is he going to do that? Quote

Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 here? Not quite…..20mm Cannons fall under the Prohibited class, but if we end up retiring to Arizona as planned…….But not allowed a mullet though Quote

westguy Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 My driver's license should be free too! and fishing... and boating... Ahhh, to live in a libertarian paradise without any regulation. the only consequence of the gun registry was to piss away billions of tax dollars and to make farmers and hunters criminals Quote
Guest Derek L Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 are you sure that's not a 50mm? ... and here I thought you already had a mullet! You mean 50 Cal…….50 mm would be a tank barrel………It could be, but the heat shield, barrel length and flash suppressor look waaaay to large (Think the Movie the Jackal and what popped Jack Black= 20mm)……..If it were 50 Cal though, it would fall under the non-restricted class and be quite legal like the rest of target rifles here in Canada. The site that sent me to that endearing redneck shot had actually identified the gun as a WWII 'Finish Lahti-39 20mm'... while also highlighting it lasted only as long as it took for the development of reinforced thick tank armour... which in turn brought on/back a shifted reliance on the 50mm 'cannons'.
