eyeball Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Wasn't there a Nature report confirming scientists were being muzzled? Yes. It's also no secret on the global stage just how backwards Canada has become. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-16861468 Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
PIK Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Remember one thing, Harper is only concerned about one thing and one thing only... Alberta Now would be a good time to revisit what Harper wrote in his Firewall Manifesto... http://www.cbc.ca/canadavotes2004/leadersparties/leaders/pdf/firewall.pdf The province that is paying the bills? What is wrong with you people, do you have any idea how things work. Kill the oilsands or cut the profit, means doom to the rest of the country. Thank god the NDP will never be in power. PIK Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 “Why should taxpayers have to pay for more than 10 reports promoting a carbon tax, something that the people of Canada have repeatedly rejected?” Baird said Monday in response to the Liberal Leader Bob Rae during question period. “It should agree with Canadians. It should agree with the government." Baird admits Tories cut funding to NRTEE scientists to silence opinions One opinion the carbon tax. But hey I hope the left still wants it, because that means many years of the greatest PM ever running this country. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
fellowtraveller Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Instructing them to shut-up if their answers suggest the government's policies are wrong amounts to the same thing. Only in the bizarro world you inhabit. Quote The government should do something.

Instructing scientists to shut-up if their answers suggest the government's policies are wrong is the rational thing to do in your world? guyser Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 The province that is paying the bills? Yes, so good that Alberta pays all of Canada's bills. Do you promise a happy ending after you've massaged the entire Province? Quote

Smallc Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 The province that is paying the bills? Oh good, another person that's clueless about equalization and the Canadian economy in general. Quote
eyeball Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) Are you suggesting that the govt is instructing its scientists to come up with wrong answers? The government is deliberately misleading the public by silencing it's scientists and what's actually being killed is our ecosystems and some of the renewable natural resources and economies these support. One day, when you have a job, you'll understand that having that job does not permit you to run your mouth off whenever you feel like it. If you were a fisherman you'd understand why I chose to cite a fisheries scientist to make my point. A scientists who works for us taxpayers I might add unless you have reason to believe she works for the Conservative Party of Canada. Because of she doesn't then you're obviously just running off at the mouth. Edited May 17, 2012 by eyeball Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
