guyser Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Well in this incident, it's the schoolboard that made a major boo-boo by their bullying attempt to stifle freedom (Religion and Expression), coinciding with the anniversary of the Charter of Rights to boot! They missed a golden opportunity to explain about rights and freedom! They could've taught the whiners how to roll their eyes over a message they don't agree with! Then, instead of admitting they were wrong, and instead of showing a positive example to everyone by apologising to Swinimer - or to any child for that matter if we caused them some grief or offense - they tried to backtrack with this so-called "dialogue." Well, it's the schoolboard - more than anyone else - who needs counselling and training. Thanks for this, What incident are you reading about, because the on in this thread has no relevance to your post. Quote

betsy Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) From what I've read in this thread he was allegedly "badgering" other students. What strikes me as odd is the fact that the school didn't warn him about harrassing others - because that's what badgering is. That the school board warned him repeatedly about the t-shirt and yet didn't warn him about badgering (which is more serious than just wearing that t-shirt), surely, it throws question to the reliability of reports that he was indeed badgering other students. Otherwise you would know this was not about a T shirt , but I suppose an uber-religious person like you would certainly want to make it seem that way. More War on Christianity BS . No surprise. Quote

If that's the way you understood it, what can I say? If you insist in knowing (more than I do) what I was replying to, what can I do? But I know what I was responding at....and that's that. Do I take it you're not happy to see me? No big hugs? Anyway...whatever. bye. Edited May 18, 2012 by betsy Quote

No, I was wondering what you were responding to since it appeared some other event was what you were talking about. You have no idea what you were taking about, evidenced by your post about some t shirt being the problem. The school has already said it isnt about that. REligious zealots who talk about God making the earth on day six are never welcomed by me. And ones who use their religion to percieve slights all around them are even worse. Quote

I must admit the first thing I read when I opened the thread was the article given by the author and his short statement. I responded to that. Then I read somewhere here that Swinimer was allegedly badgering fellow-students. Now, if he was badgering - that could be deemed as harrassment - and therefore should be the reason for complaints and suspension. HOWEVER. And this is a big however....nowhere have I read from the schoolboard's statements that Swinimer's been warned about badgering students. He was repeatedly warned about the t-shirt. To me, that means there's no real ground for the accusation of badgering if the school board itself had not acknowledged that in their press releases. Obviously it would be to the schoolboard's benefit if they release the information that they've warned Swinimer against harrassing his fellow-students....especially when they - the schoolboard - were being hammered for stifling freedom. As for religious zealots being not welcomed by you....you know I'm a religious zealot. Well, I only responded to your post - which you addressed to me! I thought it was only polite to answer... You're the one who reached out to me. Remember? Edited May 18, 2012 by betsy Quote

Did you miss the part where the school could not tell the public what and why they did what they due to the privacy act? Im guessing not but whatever. You're the one who reached out to me. Remember? No I dont recall reaching out to you. I asked a simple question pertaining to 'what on earth are you talking about.' Quote

betsy Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 What crap. It's a freaking t-shirt. The text for the word "Jesus" is very small. People are offended by the dumbest little things these days. Talk about "1st world" problems. GROW SOME SKIN!!! Just because people complain of being offended, why is it that their complains seemingly so often are taken seriously? Principal should have said "yo, relax, get over it". We're raising generations of sissies. Exactly. Quote
