Topaz Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 The Feds are bringing in new laws with e-missions with 18 wheelers, full-size pickups, stake trucks etc. I thought this was a provincial responsibilty. In Ontario, pickups are already being charged for e-mission test and now the feds are too. Will they retrack this Bill, when the western farmers start sending them e-mails they don't like it?? http://ca.news.yahoo.com/canada-unveils-heavy-vehicle-emissions-rules-141857159.html Quote
Smallc Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 The federal government regulates the emissions equipment that must be on new vehicles sold in Canada. The tests that some provinces run are done to insure that the equipment installed on your vehicle is working properly. Quote
August1991 Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 (edited) This is the key quote: The greenhouse-gas emissions rules - designed to fit with measures already set in the United States - will come into effect starting with the 2014 model year. It would be difficult for Canada to have different emission standards from the US. If ours were stricter, it would could impose horrendous costs. If ours were less strict, it could make our trucks uncompetitive for cross-border trade. Incidentally, these regulations are an indirect barrier to free-trade. Many international truck manufacturers skip the North American market because of the complexity of regulations. Domestic (US/Canada-based) producers know this and lobby to make the regulations complex. Edited April 14, 2012 by August1991 Quote

The testing in BC at that time was done only in the Vanc area. Quote
