Guest Peeves Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 I keep seeing criminals in pictures attired in hoodies. What we should do is ban hoodies! What purpose do they serve beyond hiding identity or masking features. Let's stop allowing hoodies in stores like Indians in some areas that were robbed by burka wearing men, have outlawed the burka. I can see parkas in winter but hoodies are unnecessary and scary. If I saw a couple of guys comming towards me in hoodies I might just cross the street~ Quote
stopstaaron Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 What about hoods on coats?! Do you want to ban those too? The only people in Canada who should be wearing a Veil are brides .. that is if they still wear those anymore we don't have a desert in Canada so there is no point in wearing a Veil here also Veils do not help one bit in the winter to keep your face warm! Quote Don't ban me bro. Oh behave, I'll behave. I'll be a good little boy.

If I saw a couple of guys comming towards me in hoodies I might just cross the street~ I think any garment designed to set people apart from society is, with certain exceptions, a bad idea. jbg Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) Who says that this dress sets you aside from society? Why do you think that? Toronto or New York don't have to look like Jerusalem or Islamabad or Teheran. Toronto and New York are Western cities in modern, Western countries. People have not, with the exception of the U.S.'s black slaves, been forced to come. No one is forced to remain. g_bambino Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Toronto or New York don't have to look like Jerusalem or Islamabad or Teheran. Yet, the inhabitants of North American cities don't have a look that's either static or uniform. Even in Tehran and Islamabad, a mix of garbs can be seen; Western styles have become pretty common there, since the British expats brought in more than a century ago what was contemporarily fashionable back in London. Certainly our nation is made up of a blend of people from all walks of life and all corners of the world who most definitely do not want to be clones of everyone else. Out of curiosity, what "certain exceptions" are you referring to? Quote

Michael Hardner Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Multicturalism is a failure The Canadian government has often been described as the instigator of multicultural ideology because of its public emphasis on the social importance of immigration.[14] The Canadian Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism is often refereed to as the origins of modern political awareness of multiculturalism.[15] Given that the policy was established by Pierre Trudeau, that icon of Liberalism, and supported by Stephen Harper and that our immigration policy is a basis for our grown and dynamism it's hard to see why you're saying this. PARIS — French President Nicolas Sarkozy declared Thursday that multiculturalism had failed, joining a growing number of world leaders or former leaders who have condemned it. British Prime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Australia’s ex-prime minister John Howard and Spanish ex-premier Jose Maria Aznar have also recently said multicultural policies have not successfully integrated immigrants. It's kind of a joke to me that a country like France can claim to have tried multiculturalism. They have such a strong national identity - one that strongly resists religion and is ingrained in their society at all levels. Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Wild Bill Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Eliminate the hoody and you eliminate half of people's wardrobes here on the west coast!! Why do you hate freedom? Good point! Some folks have the freedom to wear a hoodie and others have the freedom to not trust them! Like it or not, it's a gangsta rap style. For that reason alone, to many other citizens it appears threatening. How can you tell a real gangsta from some teenage poser? It's similar to walking down a city street wearing a bandit mask. A large number of people will assume you are likely up to no good! Meanwhile, many posters on MLW will think they can solve this problem by scolding such nervous people and insisting they stop being so untrusting!
