Bringing in the HST the way they did, and under the false pretense that it would be revenue neutral, has probably sealed their fate. Enough of the middle and right are turning to the provincial Conservative party to give the NDP a win come the next election, in 2013. Even with the Conservative Party of BC making gains people like Stockwell Day still support the BC Liberals. I would say that there's a good chance the Manning Centre had her speak to make her appeal more to Conservative supporters because a large chunk has left the party over the last year. While Christy Clark is not likely the first choice of many conservatives she's still better than the alternative which is Adrian Dix and the NDP. The BC Conservatives have no chance of getting organized enough before next year's election to be a threat for government, so at this point they are only taking support away from the Liberals and allowing the NDP to form a majority government, even though they haven't gained any support since 2009. I was an executive member in the PEI NDP and can attest they are not any more or less left-wing than other Atlantic NDP parties. If they had 40% wouldn't someone other than Mulcair be leading? Wouldnt there at least be a far-left candidate in the running? Or wouldn't at least one of the left-wing in the race be up there? That link you posted had a picture of Ashton. If she had the support of the 'socialist wing'(ie 40%) wouldnt she be doing much better than dead last in the race? Isn't she even behind the non-sitting pharmacist from rural NS that no one ever heard of before this? I would think that since I started this thread to learn about some conservative politics in BC that you wouldn't really hijack it. I would think that you would rather me learn about Clark etc than wasting my time reading nonsense. Didn't you start the 'greasey left' thread for that?
