j44 Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 I honestly do believe they think they're doing what's best. I have enough Conservatives and conservatives in my family to know that. I agree that they think what they are doing is best for Canada but I disagree with your use of the work 'all' in your previous comment about doing the best for 'all Canadians.' Really? Do I have to supply you with the declining number of Liberal seats over the last number of elections resulting in the party relegated to third place in the House? I would conclude from this that a very large segment of the population put the Liberals in the penalty box and for good reason. People jump the gun and tend to write off parties wen they have a few crappy elections. Oh definitely, but being in the penalty box is very different than being sold and moved to Phoenix. Quote

I really do think that they're convinced it's best for all of us, just as the Liberals were with the gun registry. Quote

bjre Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Yes, living in China can do that to a person. What's your problem with China? Is this the "Federal Politics" section? Besides, I am living in Canada. Bryan Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 The robocall thing is a wake up call for all Canadians and the media is playing up the lack of trust in the CPC quite well. The robocall thing is just another in a long line of faux scandals from the opposition that has cemented in many voters' minds that the NDP and Liberals can't be trusted. Quote
eyeball Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 The road to hell is paved with good intentions, putting non violent Canadians in prison which will give them records just for growing pot is ridiculous, it's going to screw their lives up, they'll have a harder time getting a good job because of the record, it will lead to more crime I think something like this could lead to the radicalization of some people to the point of violence. Their introduction to the real underworld might enable them to find sources of weapons and explosives they would never otherwise have access to. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
Bonam Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 I only trust people who have earned my trust. And, besides that, people can be trusted to act in their own nature. For example, harper can be trusted to do what he can to implement the conservative agenda. Quote
eyeball Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 I don't believe in relying on trust. I want to see a system of government accountability and transparency that's on par with the one the state subjects me to when I'm fishing commercially. That includes using video surveillance, GPS, auditors, validators, compliance ratings and human observers if your rating falls below a set value, say 95%. I mean, we do have to allow for bathroom breaks. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
