bud Posted March 12, 2012 Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 I would like to see a thread started on the pros- positives of the Iranian government, or for that matter pros/positives of the other Arab or other Islamic countries of the middle East. why? we know they have very little positives. we know that they oppress their people. so what now? we should bomb the shit out of them? their internal politics are internal. they pose no danger to israel or any other country as both israeli and u.s. experts have repeatedly said. jbg Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 I would like to see a thread started on the pros- positives of the Iranian government, or for that matter pros/positives of the other Arab or other Islamic countries of the middle East. Some of the securities regulations and monetary policies of these countries are excellent. As well as their laws mandating public disclosure of finances of public officials. These governments are known for being open, honest, transparent and direct. The latter characteristic is why some of their policies are seen as being brutal. Should be described as "brutally honest". Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
August1991 Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 I can think of one positive though, most have oil.thinking.....thinking..........thin.... But many countries have little or no oil.Tunisia and Egypt have little oil and yet they recently went through "regime change". Syria has some oil but not like Iraq, Libya or Saudi Arabia. And while Iraq's Saddam and Libya's Qaddafi have now fallen (in different ways), the House of Saud remains in power. So, oil doesn't seem to be the explanatory factor. In any case, despite George Clooney's attempts, it was never clear to me how America or American corporations benefitted from oil wars in the Middle East. After the disruption in supply of oil to Asia, the Iraqi government now collects royalties on its exports. If anything, Bush Jnr's invasion of Iraq made Canada and Venezuela rich because we saw our energy resources rise in value. And if Americans were as smart and imperial as the Left claims them to be, why didn't the US military invade Alberta and Venezuela? Quote
