Argus Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 "Its true definition is accepting that other civilized cultures are as equally valid as our own. The key part of that definition is civilized, some people seem to think that the backwards societies of the world are valid in any way..." I understand you right wingers have difficulties with basic reading comprehension so I've bolded and underlined the initial text to make it clearer. Perhaps if your comments were more lucid and you had a better grasp of grammar others would have fewer difficulties understanding you... Argus Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 When I was in Greece it was funny because some people I had met there said, "We love Canada! We have family there and in Canada you can be Greek and Canadian!" Would that mean you drink coffee from Tim Hortons but manage to not pay any taxes on it? August1991 Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 (edited) Canada is defined by ... ZAMBONI!!Good!OK...but ZAMBONI! is American....perhaps you mean ice resurfacers in general.Better!---- Multiculturalism simply means that the State does not promote a particular culture, and has no cultural obligations. The culture of a society is an affair of private individuals. (Think of Balzac or Dickens or, Hollywood.) ----- Canada? Our federal government will speak to us in French and English. But this placed called "Canada", and its "culture", is for us to decide. We have no "State Culture". Edited November 10, 2011 by August1991 Quote

TakeBackCanada Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 I'm sorry to tell you this, but Canada's culture has always been one that was formed on the basis of other cultures. These new cultures have added to the Canadian fabric, not taken from it. This is one of those cases of harkening back to a time that never existed. BS Canadian culture was mainly British-French that is why we have English and French as our Official languages. The way it is going though its going to be Cantonese and French since the French are the only ones in this country smart enough to fight for their culture and language. Quote
Smallc Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 Canadian culture is made up of many many things. That's what makes it unique in its own way. Quote
royalamethyst Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 I can see you guys haven't heard of divide and conquer. Everyone being of a different culture is actually a bad thing. We'll have no sense of unity, therefor making it easy for us to be easily taken over, manipulated and less likely to band together to oppose an enemy force --- whoever that may be ( I have one in mind, but not sharing.)
