Anyone within Canada, not living in the woods, benefits by secure sources of energy. The pricing of energy will go up further as you decrease access.

so our interest is to stop the flow of energy in the region so the cost of energy goes up?

How much of our oil comes from iraq, afghanistan?

Not a clue…….The oil in Iraq is a commodity……..You reduce the amount on the market, everyone’s price goes up……..Likewise, if Iran initiates another tanker war in the Gulf or even the threat of destabilizing the region, it will affect the world price.

No, our interests are to keep energy flowing……..

Iran isn't the one initiating a war, the recent plot is so weak its pathetic

if anything happens its because of us and our allies

dont get it twisted

So why are we so heavily invested in something that can be so easily destabilized? Why have we not gone on to other forms of energy sooner?

Then who is initiating it? Do you have any evidence to suggest the Iranians are not behind it? "Shia" and "Sunni" Muslims have been at odds with each other for quite some time... Why would the West want a “war” in a region where a large portion of our energy comes from?

It can be destabilized, but the other investments made in countering that threat would suffice to secure it in a mater of weeks………As for alternative energy……It’s not profitable yet………

Sure......But there is almost a zero likelihood of that happening………see Keystone XL

You mean why would we engage in yet another war in the same area? Canada could probably survive on it's own with it's own oil production, provided we were able to refine the oil to be useable. We export mostly to the USA, and import mainly from countries like Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.

And the recent 'evidence' that Iran is using the drug cartels in Mexico to target the USA (when the USA was not the real target but Saudi Arabia and Israel) was pretty far fetched to begin with. To the point that major papers .. like the NY Times (typically who tows the governments line) have expressed huge doubts on this new 'evidence'. The evidence leading up to the Iraq war was shaky at best and most turned out to be completely false and manufactured, you don't think that this is happening again regarding Iran? This new evidence is even more shaky than the Iraq evidence.

I know a thing or two about oil.......Mercantilism is yesterday’s news…….If Iran started a war with Saudi Arabia, and sinking their tankers in the Gulf, it would affect us

Not the least.......There’s many that also feel they’ve been the subjects of testing by the Arcturians.......I lose about the same amount of sleep.

so iran starts the war in every scenario?

LOL, open up your eyes, I'm sure you believe the Iraq war was necessary

Maybe, maybe not, but the West will finish it if needed.

WRT Iraq, you don’t feel it was necessary? Open up your eyes………

So maybe we should be rethinking our oil strategy? If this is affecting us in that way, then why are we continuing with that kind of policy/strategy? It's not in our best interest to be dealing with these countries in the first place. It does not benefit us when we start meddling with them

So you totally buy this 'evidence' about Iran? Really? Even knowing that the 'evidence' against Iraq had holes you can drive an aircraft carrier through?

We need to stay the hell out of another military engagement.

The war on Iraq was totally unnecessary. Iraq was no threat. It had no nuclear program to speak of. That was taken care of with the first war on Iraq. Iraq is no better off today than it was under Saddam. Terror bombings are still taking place over there on a weekly basis, and the casualties are quite high. This just has not been reported as much in the news, or if it is, it's not a headliner anymore. Iraq is still quite a dangerous place.

Is Libya and Libyans in better shape now that Gaddafi is almost finished?

Oil was also flowing during the Iraq-Iran war……Under escort of USN/allied and Soviet warships.

As for myself..... Diversification……..My portfolio and line of work would see me benefit with or without a war…….i.e., I got both Exxon and Raytheon stock

General stability of oil markets and impact on world economies. Specifically, more oil services contracts for Canadian companies like those in Iraq and Libya. Just ask Paul Martin! ;)

Economics trumps Virtue.
