No, I don't give a rip either. Never occurred to me to wish for a vote in Canadian elections...what's the point of that? They are your elections....do as you please. Well I do, but its hard to when I don't support any of the major parties and the independents that run in my area aren't any better. Well I do, but its hard to when I don't support any of the major parties and the independents that run in my area aren't any better. I think we all run into the same thing to a certain degree - Obama certainly wasn't my choice of candidate for the Democratic party, but given a choice between him and McCain/Palin, the choice was clear. I still wouldn't do any differently under the circumstances; and unless the GOP can come up with a decent middle-ground ticket, he'll be getting my vote again - though it won't give me much pleasure. Wild Bill Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 (edited) Why not, indeed? And Celine Dion could be your next PM. Unless Justine Beiber is old enough by the time you hold your next elections ..... What a horrible thought! I predict mass suicides among the Boomers old enough to have grown up pre-disco, a la those passengers in the movie "Airplane!" who killed themselves so they wouldn't have to listen to the star spill his life story in the seat beside him! BTW, it was not widely publicized at the time but during the SARS Toronto rock concert a few years ago the lineup was for the most part die hard rock and roll, and so was the audience. The Guess Who and the Rolling Stones were the openers. Celine Dion made a satellite video appearance from Las Vegas. She was soundly booed! Justin Timberlake had water bottles thrown at him and he had to leave the stage! The media had to use some skillful editing to avoid the embarrassment. It was just totally the wrong venue for artists like those two and it shows the ineptness of their management for letting it happen. To use a simile that us older folks can appreciate, it was like having Donny Osmond or Bobby Sherman guest at a Metallica concert. People who really like rock and roll consider pop music for kids and babies, on a par with the Wiggles! They also never liked disco, considering it music for flakes and airheads. Times change, I guess. Guest American Woman Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 What a horrible thought! Horrible, indeed. Which is how I feel about Roseanne. And I just noticed that I wrote "Justine" instead of Justin .... Hmmmmmm .... wonder if that's a freudian slip?? .............. Spelled his last name wrong, too. I was really on top of it! That's how the mere suggestion of Roseanne Barr running for president affects me ................. I predict mass suicides among the Boomers old enough to have grown up pre-disco, a la those passengers in the movie "Airplane!" who killed themselves so they wouldn't have to listen to the star spill his life story in the seat beside him! Haha. I predict mass suicides among all the masses. I'd heard about that. I actually watched the concert - wasn't it aired live? Seems to me I remember watching it live. My daughters and I were in Toronto at the height of SARS - what a ghost town! We had entire tour buses to ourselves. People thought we were soooo brave for going during the height of such a terrible epidemic - that was surely going to kill us all. It was just totally the wrong venue for artists like those two and it shows the ineptness of their management for letting it happen. Well, regardless of how people feel about her, I thought it was a bad call for Celine Dion to make an appearance by satellite. And it was just the wrong venue for Justin Timberlake .... not a good call on their managers' part for sure. Do I dare admit that I still like Donny Osmond? He and Marie presently have a show at Vegas, and I wanted to go to it when I was there in April - but my sister refused to pay the $120. Times change, I guess. There are still a lot of groups from the good ol' days making the tour circuit ...... a lot of die hards. It's still fun to see them in concert - though most bands have lost half of their original members..... Quote
