.The old commie faction of the NDP refuse to give up the title of socialism. They are so proud of their roots and ideals that they actually believe that this is the best form of government world wide - even though communism has murdered more people than any other ideology. It is rather scarey to think of what Jack Layton really thinks and what he would do if he gained total power. Firstly I can not get over that fact that he does not tell the truth and that his wife lied on his behalf..."It was a licenced therepudic massage clinic" to para phrase Oliva Chow.

If his partner and bed mate will lie to gain advantage so will Jack. The NDP and I have watched them for over 40 years were always the lower class party - the party of people that wanted what they could not gain because they were simply not as intelligent as the upper class - who were historically primarily conservatives. To see some of Jacks henchmen interviewed it gives me the creeps in regards to their underdeveloped and now institutionalised socialist attitude - These old dreamers never got past the reading of Carl Marx - most are pushing 60 and have not changed or grown since their university days....IF these types gained power - any one that was independent or slightly intelligent would be oppressed or worse.

This buisness about being all one - equal and the same is bull crap - ----- Socialism consists of safety in numbers - a gang like mentality - if they can not take on an individual one on one - because they are not smart enough - they will eventually gang up and deal with their percieved advesary by force - "Power comes from the barrel of a gun" _ How many Jack Fanatics privately and quietly believe in that? I am sure there are some - The liberals were fools and too dependant on the immigrant vote - once the immigrants got past liberal coersion - they figured out that new Candadians were actually conservative in their traditions and did not go for same sex marriage or all that other pandering to the weak emotional mind that they were so good at..

I blame the pandering Liberals for the rise of socialism in this nation - NOW we have the spector of a totally socialist dictatorship in this country - and they will come looking for you...History may repeat itself- It might be a far fetched premise that I put forward but it IS possible..It frightens me - and I fear for the next generation if Jack who hides his teeth behind that dated moustache ever takes power...worst would be that Jack's health fails and some hard nose lunitic takes over.

I blame the simpering cowards for their incessant fear of appearing soft in the face of the loathing Conservatives have cultivated towards our justice system.

Now we have the specter of less civil liberties and the rise of the police state. History is indeed repeating itself.

Between Liberal fear and Conservative loathing we live in a state of mutual assured dictatorship.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Socialism is only popular in Quebec. Don't worry too much. The NDP has no room for growth in Quebec, they will be hard pressed to convince the 50% of Canadians outside of Quebec who voted conservative to start backing their socialist craziness instead.

Socialism.. it's so scary..

"..each worker in a socialist society receives wages and benefits according to the quantity and value of the labor that he or she contributed. This translates into workers of high productivity receiving more wages and benefits than workers of average productivity, and substantially more than workers of low productivity. An extension of this principle could also be made so that the more difficult one's job is—whether this difficulty is derived from greater training requirements, job intensity, safety hazards, etc.—the more one is rewarded for the labor contributed."

Both the LPC and the NDP are socialist to the core. The Liberals pretend to be the party of the "centre" but they are just about - not quite - as tax & spend as the NDP. The Liberals are sneaky; they have and will flim-flam the voters. The NDP are not quite as smart; all those academics have mostly Mickey Mouse degrees. The NDP would get by brute force what they couldn't get by guile. Have you ever wondered why Rae and Trudeau migrated to the Liberals? Yes, I'm as frightened of the NDP, maybe more so, than I was and am of the Liberals.

Yes it's a nice theory that has proven to be deeply flawed.

Yes it's a nice theory that has proven to be deeply flawed.

The theory isn't flawed.

It's that there's not enough bulletproofing in the existing system to make sure it works that way. There's no real gauge for true performance or reward for that performance. That's not a flaw, there's just no real metric for it.

What I'm deeply worried about is that we have not diluted the power of corporations yet.

Now that's a scary thing.

Socialism isn't scary, unless you're one of those people who believe Nazis were evil because they were socialists.

I know. Every day I go to work thinking to myself, look at what this socialist system has wrought upon us.

"This socialist system"?

I'm guessing you're part of a union...

That's huge part of it. Their attack on the Jewish was motivated by jealousy and greed. Many Jews were successful and wealthy. The Nazis, dull-witted cave men, were neither. The Jews had what they wanted so, being dyed-in-the-wool socialists, they took by force and thought they left no witnesses.

You seem to have a thing about unions, so can you tell me how safe is your job? If you work in a non-union job, who do you think would be there to, at least , to try to save your job, a union or the government?

Where do you get your news? You say the Libs and the NDP are tax and spend parties? Have you heard about the Conservatives spending and the taxes? Sure the Tories lowered the GST but they upped EI premiums. The spent million just before every elections and now they have the biggest deficit in Canadian history, which I'm sure they could out do themselves!

 No one. I work hard and make sure I'm productive and an asset to the firm to keep my job. My job is safe as long as I don't fuck up or start slacking too much. As it should be. Employers aren't charities.

I have to laugh when I hear some people say that the rise of the NDP in Quebec is a sign that federalism is making a resurgence in Quebec. No such thing is happening. Quebecers voted NDP en masse because they wanted a louder voice in the Commons than they had with the Bloc, and they loathe the Conservatives and the Liberals. Wanting to hold on to the seats they won there, the NDP is insisting that Quebec should hold 25% of the Commons seats, which is roughly the province's population.

The NDP has turned into Quebec's mouthpiece but with a Conservative majority, all they can do is make noise. In the process, the NDP risks alienating their grassroots in the rest of Canada. The only way the NDP can placate their supporters in the ROC is to push their socialist agenda of anti-corporatism and pro-unionism. Caught in a catch 22 is putting it mildly.

Most Quebecers care not a whit about matters like Canada's standing in the world. For one thing, they are staunchly anti-military, especially when their sons and daughters are deployed into conflicts, and for the most part onboard with the socialist agenda. Above all French Canadians care most about perpetuating their culture and language, and as a Franco-Ontarian, these are objectives I can certainly understand and appreciate. The problem is that this also puts them at odds with a whole lot of Anglo and Allophone Canadians who do not sympathize.

For all these reasons, the NDP's hold on Quebec will be short lived. What will happen in the next 5 or 6 years is anybody's guess. I know one thing: the Conservatives and the Liberals need to take action now to mine the territory in Quebec. Otherwise, the NDP will solidify their hold in the province and the Commons will resemble what we have now for many years to come.

In light of all this, a Liberal/NDP merger might be what awaits us.

I've seen no evidence of the reasoning you're talking about. Quebecers like Jack...for some reason.

No, in fact that isn't their population.

And well you should be frightened: There's a spectre haunting the country after all.

Look, guys, you can try to resist the revolution all you want. Consolidate your class position, keep the workers divided, spread your opium. Yeah, it's working for now. But we're growing in number and concentration. We're starting to realize our strength. And we're taking aim at the whole damn system itself: Prepare to say goodbye to private property, to bourgeois individuality, to the family. Workers of Canada unite!

Is it really just about Jack or the work the NDP did on the ground and behind the scenes to spread their message of a new deal for Quebec at the federal level. I guess it's a matter of perception.

No, in fact that isn't their population.

"Quebec is Canada’s largest province by area and is home to over 7,800,000 people. Its residents account for nearly 25 percent of Canada’s total population. "

I would think the Conservatives would be quite happy with the commons resembling what we have now for many years to come...

Between Liberal fear and Conservative loathing we live in a state of mutual assured dictatorship.

Sad state of affairs is that conservatives as I remember them only appreicate those with material success..and loath those that are of no use to them. The material success would have to be one that benefits that bankers - big buisness and conservatives in general - real conservatism does not was material or human resourses. Our version of conservatism has no quams about oppressing anyone that can think....

As for the socialist - they have always unknowingly done the dirty work of the high end finacial conservative - kind of a king and henchmen releationship. The only plus I see as far as the police state is that the cops do not bother with older people that might be experienced enough to embarass the judical system ---or through agism think we are flakes.

Take Tim Hudak for instance - he played the fear and loathing card when he suggested that the poor and disadvantaged who are wards of the state (prisoners) work for their keep and in time maybe privatize jails so that a profit can be turned on interned slave labour....It was a cheap shot and an insult to the person who is at a good level of social awareness.

The step toward dictatorship are so incrimental that no one is noticing it. The liberals with their de-sexing of the populace - the NDP with their attempted de-classing of the populace - and of course the conservatives who hold the money supply - keep us all on the run in a search for true freedom and escape from slavery...........worst part is it is not about money - it is about dominance ---which boarders on some sort of weird sadistic mindset that is acceptable in the higher circles --It used to be a good person was held in high esteem - Now cruel people are respected - which is a mistake --------all the parties are part of this rush toward ultimate power and domination - they can kiss my old ass.

A card board box essembled by your brothers engaged in slave labour in China? _ who is going to take care of workers with no skill?

Why is it I see a woman during the French revolution - with rotting teeth -screaming for the beheading of anyone with a healthy face and mind?

That's incorrect. Quebec, in 2010, had 22.5% of Canada's population:

http://www40.statcan.ca/l01/cst01/demo02a-eng.htm

Now, that 2.5% distinction may not seem important, but when it comes to allocating extra seats, it very much is. Quebec used to have 25% of the population. They don't now, and in fact their share of the population falls every year, as BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario are all growing at a faster pace (notice that all of those provinces are to the west of Quebec. The provinces to the east are growing even slower).

And yes, it is about Jack, and the fact that the NDP is where most Quebecers are.

Haven't seen anything like this since I left Pravda. Warms my heart.

Thanks for the laugh.

I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
