Topaz Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 The Hill Times reports, on June 3rd, the Tories and the opposition parties, except the Green, past a motion for the govt's spending estimates for the year of $250.8 Bil. WOW! Do we have that or is this printed? Normally, 24 committees look into all this spending and hold the government accountable, but, not this year. There 's only going to be one committee, a 2 day seating. Why, you may ask, well it usually done in March and ends in June but because of the May 2nd election time is running out for those MP's to enjoy their summer. So where is some of this money being spent, an extra 521 mil for federal prisons which bring the correctional services to 3 Bil., National Defence to 23.1 Bil and 3.3 for Health and the Treasury Secretariat. Reductions of $720 Mil are the Canadian Nuclear Safety Com., Public Health Agency of Canada and the National Research Council of Canada and the Hazardous Material Info. Review Com. I don't think this is a good thing when any govt spending isn't held accountable, even in a majority govt. Thoughts? http://www.hilltimes.com/dailyupdate/view/175 Quote

Topaz Posted June 17, 2011 Author Report Posted June 17, 2011 3 billion for prison guards? Just how many hundreds of thousands of Canadians does Harper plan on imprisoning anyway? Well, my only guess is when people start to protest, they will have a new home or, the new crime laws will create new criminals or maybe the Tories are being nice and increasing the guards pay. Not!
