guyser Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 Can't really blame them, colonoscopy wait times have nearly doubled in some provinces and only high risk patients easily get them anytime sooner. The bowel purge kits are sold by prescription. No different than anywhere else on this continent .The growing popularity of the procedure has inundated the prefession and caused wait times to rise. Hell in Madison Wisconsin one cant even get it done if they are healthy, I guess that is the ultimate wait time. Quote

bush_cheney2004 Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 Where are you getting that from? Good question....we can get them in short order...at competing facilities. After age 50, they actually chase us down to go polyp hunting. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
guyser Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 Where are you getting that from? NYT's In DeForest, Wis., 20 minutes from Madison, the waiting lists for the colonoscopies are closed to healthy patients. Dr. Peter Pickhardt, a family practitioner, says he has learned to be blunt with patients. ''I tell them up front,'' he said. ''If they want a colonoscopy, it's not available.'' Quote

guyser Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) You can call the Doc a liar then. His words , their wait. Wait times for this procedure have climbed all over the world since the advance of this procedure and its ability to detect earlier. It seems it is universal and not limited to any one place. Editted to add....They still need a Dr's referral to get one, ergo a healthy patient like the Doc is talking about may be denied. Edited June 3, 2011 by guyser Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 You can call the Doc a liar then. His words , their wait. ...no, just your hearsay. Do you think there is only one doctor in Madison, Wisconsin? Wait times for this procedure have climed all over the world since the advance of this procedure and its ability to detect earlier. That doesn't mean the procedure is unavailable to healthy people....money talks...bullcrap walks. It seems it is universal and not limited to any one place. I can get one next week, but I hate drinking the prep. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
guyser Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) ...no, just your hearsay. Do you think there is only one doctor in Madison, Wisconsin? Hearsay? Um, hearsay is info gathered from one person on a thing or event or condition that the first poerson has no direct knowledge. So the Doc has no knowledge? That doesn't mean the procedure is unavailable to healthy people....money talks...bullcrap walks. Take it up with the doc, it is their problem to correct. He says it , not I. I can get one next week, but I hate drinking the prep. Great, so can lots of other people in certain spots. The point thatis missed is the procedure has become so popular that wait times, at this point, have occured because of its popularity. New York has the same problem, as do many other jurisdictions. jbg Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 I know that I brought up the topic of colonoscopies. I would think that we'd at least discuss their availability in Vermont. Judging by the number of Vermonters with brown eyes constipation must be a problem in that State. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." guyser Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 ...which is far different than the procedure not being available to healthy people. That thought was DOA. DOA ....LOL Tell that to the Dr who works there and knows. He tells his healthy patients they cant get it. Quote

One doctor in your hearsay example does not reflect an entire health care market. It's not like it's Canada, with wait times for a Band-Aid! LOL! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

bud Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 I went here (link), and selected the dialogue box marked "Member Title". I changed text in box from "Radical Leftist Lawyer" to "True Progressive (Leftists Are Reactionaries)". It really wasn't hard, since I'm not intellectually challenged. i didn't ask how you changed your text. i asked you how you can suddenly go from being a 'radical leftist lawyer' to 'true progressive (leftists are reactionaries)'? did you recently wake up and change your view of the world? jbg Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 That's why I can get a colonoscopy whenever I want, and I don't even live in Vermont. I had my last one in April 2010 in White Plains. I am both over 50 and a member of a high risk group so I had no trouble getting one. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone."
