Well, it seems that some IRA members are up to their old tricks again. They planted a bomb on a bus. However, since we keep reading here that "There are no Christian terrorists", they must just be some pranksters. BTW, I am no fan of the monarchy, but planting bombs to protest a royal visit IS a terrorist act!!!

Ah the Provos...tried to kill me once, too...the bastards. No matter all the Orange vs Green stuff...they are not motivated by religion.

No, they are not, but since they ARE Christians, I suppose they cannot be terrorists (according to some here).

Seems fair to me given the trendy and sweeping definition for "terrorist"....the monarchy certainly belongs in that club.

;-)

So does the Vatican imo.

But attacking civilians doesn't help any good cause.

They do claim 3 things:

1. They're Irish.

2. Like Republics.

3. View themselves as an army.

They have always claimed to be Catholics. That is why they attacked innocent Protestants.

Yep....cripes...that guy was born His Serene Highness....doesn't get much better than that.

Mountbatten? Another German family that changed its name in WW I. They were von Battenberg until 1917.

...plus they can't rise to the Monarchy...no Catholics or dogs on the royal grass!

True. Idiocy all around.

I rather like this Wiki entry:

Sinn Féin vice-president Gerry Adams said of Mountbatten's death:

The IRA gave clear reasons for the execution. I think it is unfortunate that anyone has to be killed, but the furor created by Mountbatten's death showed up the hypocritical attitude of the media establishment. As a member of the House of Lords, Mountbatten was an emotional figure in both British and Irish politics.
What the IRA did to him is what Mountbatten had been doing all his life to other people
; and with his war record I don't think he could have objected to dying in what was clearly a war situation. He knew the danger involved in coming to this country. In my opinion, the IRA achieved its objective: people started paying attention to what was happening in Ireland.

Where?

Okay, let's put it this way, they have always had the support of Catholics.

Just Catholics? No atheists, no Lutherins, no Jews, no etc?

Nice guy.

The von Battenbergs changed their name to "Mountbatten" the same time the "House of Hanover-Saxe-Coburg-Gotha" changed theirs to "Windsor".
