I'm extrapolating this idea from a series called "how the universe works". Specifically the sun, always in a balance between cold fusion and gravity. Also an essential part of the Zen philosophy: Yin and Yang.

The idea is, we get a vote for the party that we don't want in power as well as one for who we do want in power.

Then we just use simple math to calculate the difference and figure out what the majority of people actually wanted.

This would destroy the fear that creates strategic voting, and make things like the vote compass a good thing rather than something that divides us.

Or we could allocate a percentage to each party and then actually reflect the exact percentage they achieved in their control of government. That seems more intelligent eh? But not everyone get's intelligence...

Of course the seemingly harmonious thing would be if they would all just run the government together and do what each of them is best at... I think ego and image get in the way of that far too much. But if for example each party leader had a percentage of the federal budget to allocate instead of trying to pick one person to allocate it they would spend a lot more time thinking about how to allocate they're part of it instead of arguing about it.

Thanks for reading :)

This past election many voters voted for so many different reasons. I've heard people say, they voted for the local guy, cause he/she is nice person, they don't like the leader of a party, they were tired of elections, so they gave it to the a party that could get a majority, they voted for NDP, because they were sick and tired of the way QP was and of the Tories and the Libs. There's so many reasons the government of Canada is not working but part of it is Harper, himself. At least, under a minority government, he wasn't good for the country, but, now he has his majority and we will see how good he is for Canada and if voters agree with him, four years from now. As far as balance, that's up to Harper.

:) :)Fairer House of Commons Riding splits. At present, the Atlantic provinces ate top heavy with MPs, especially PEI with 35,000 people per MP as compared to AB- ratio 1 MP to 133,000 people or ONT @ 1 mp to 122thou person. Quebec is also out of whack (and not only in this matter)

Looking at the House Of Commons with 308 MP it seems that the electoral system is about the most unfair thing about Canada

N&L now has a population of 509M, with 7 MPs (ratio is 1 per 72,000).

With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 8 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 6 MPs

NS now has a population of 1M, with 11 MPs (ratio is 1 per 72,000).

With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 10 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 8 MPs

PEI has a population of 140,000M & 4 MPs (ratio is 1 per 35,000) With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 2 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 1 MPs

NB now has a population of 750,000 mill with 11 MPs (ratio is 1 per 72,000).

With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 10 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 8 MPs

Que now has a population of 8 Mill, with 75 MPs (ratio is 1 per 106,000

With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 80 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 65 MPs

Ont now has a population of 13 Mill, with106 MPs (ratio is 1 per 122,000).

With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 130 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 104 MPs

Man now has a population of 1.2 Mil;l, with 14 MPs (ratio is 1 per 85,000).

With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 12 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 11 MPs

Sask now has a population of 1.05, with 14 MPs (ratio is 1 per 86,000.

With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 10 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 11 MPs

AB now has a population of 3.75 Mill, with 29MPs (ratio is 1 per 133,000).

With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 37 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 30 MPs

BC now has a population of 4.59 Mill with 36 MPs (ratio is 1 per 72,000).

With a ratio of 1 MP/100,000 would be 45 MPs or at 125,000/ MP would be 36 MPs

Territories at present 1 MP each with populatons around 125,000 each for a further 3 MPs

Totals now 308 MPs @ 100,000 per MP would be 343 MPs Or @ 125,000 per Mp would be 279

So, we would have a more fair distribution of ridings and @150,000 people per MP and 29 less ridings

In keeping with the proposal, I voted both yes and no.

That is in theory only. Yes, it is how it should be, and how I wish it were, but most of us realists realize that starting with Trudeau and escalating rapidly since, the PMO has accumulated more power and individual MPs have lost their power. So the impact your vote has on your riding depends much more on the party leader than the MP.

The government can't give anything to anyone without having first taken it from someone else.
