I've been tuning to CTV Newsnet and CBC....I haven't seen a single Tory ad for several days now. Only Liberal and NDP ads.

Have you guys seen any Tory ads?

They probably ran out of money. They began campaigning 3 years ago, remember? :P

that or they were all geared toward attacking Ignatief, oops... and the nasty attack adds are likely backfiring people are tired of that shit...too late to change direction even if they had any clue how to battle the orange wave...

I've been seeing the "Harper cut your GST, but the Liberals are irresponsible poo-poo heads and the NDP are even more irresponsible poo-poo heads" ads.

Frankly, Tory and Liberal ads in this election have just been gawdawful. The first I thing I'd do if I was those two parties is fire whoever has been producing the ads. They're so badly done, so amateurish it's a wonder they were done by major parties.

I see "And I'm not gonna take a GST hike off the table" every day at least 3 times, not watching that much TV. Live in a very hot riding.

Liberals seem to have by far the most out, followed by PSAC backing 'Public Services,' trashing Harper, and not endorsing anyone specifically.

I'm not seeing as many political ads. Or maybe because I already voted I've started tuning out the election altogether including the ads.

I just watched a very positive Jack Layton ad, followed by a Tory ad "Jack Layton will eat your babies, kick your cat and eat the last cookie in the cookie jar BWAHAHAHAHA!!!" I find negative ads kind of funny. They're so absurdly over the top if it wasn't an election you would think it was a Monty Python skit.

And those ads are doing a bang up job. Oh, did you say Liberal ads? <_<:o

I guess you guys aren't watching any of the hockey games. Tonight in the Montreal vs Boston final I think I counted about 5 CPC commercials and a couple for the NDP and Liberals as well.

I can almost going to guarantee you Harper is going to be blitzing ads for the next week.

That's what I suspect....that Tory ads are most likely concentrated on prime shows that guarantees millions of viewers.

Political junkies like us who consume CTV and CBC and CPAC political shows are mostly staunched supporters of parties...nothing can sway unless it's a scandal of seismic proportion.

Pundits are speculating that campaigning during weekend will be difficult because of the Royal Wedding. They're saying that right now royal watchers are giddy about this pomp and pageantry that politics will hardly register.

It is after the wedding....that's when they'll be thinking of the election, it will also be a time for "reflections and contemplations" depending what the polls showed. Do you really want an NDP Prime Minister Layton? Do you want to gamble on an NDP-led Coalition?

I'm betting the blitz of Tory ads will be on the coverage of the wedding....and I'm betting the price for air-time will be quite expensive that more likely there will hardly be any Liberal and NDP ads.

I hope the Tory ads voice out the fear of Bay Street, our dollar that went down when the polls showed the Orange surge, the fighting words of Layton aimed at the WEALTHY - which are also the investors!

If the numbers continue on their trajectory, you're not looking at an NDP-led coalition (and piss off calling it a "gamble"). You're actually looking at an NDP minority government.

I'm still not convinced that there's time to pull that off. I've been wrong plenty lately but with four days left, I think the NDP is going to find battling the Tories head to head a lot harder than the battles with the Liberals and the Bloc.

There is time, actually.

Look at the change in polling percentages for the NDP the past 4-5 days. Now add that rate to their current standing. There is certainly enough time.

I still say the most interesting will be if the NDP and Tories tie for a plurality.

My logic stems from the fact that I consider the Bloc and Liberals soft targets. The NDP bullet passes through them fairly easily, but the Tories have their baseline of support somewhere in the 30s, and cracking into that is going to slow down the NDP bullet considerably. If the NDP had started their meteoric rise a few days earlier, maybe they could have pulled it off, but now they're dealing with a very potent electoral machine.

But, like I said, I've been wrong a lot lately. I was one of those guys proclaiming that this election was a waste of time, that we'd get back the same Parliament we already had, and that prediction has proved so wildly wrong that I'm willing to accept the possibility of a Prime Minister Jack Layton giving his acceptance speech on Monday night.

I think time remaining isn't the issue, the deciding factor will be the FPTP electoral system which can screw up the results to where votes do not match results...

Yes, unless the numbers change, I'm see massive vote splitting in Ontario, benefiting the Conservatives.

absolutely that could happen but the ndp are bleeding votes away from the conservatives as well so in some ridings any one of three parties could benefit from a split vote...I hate FPTP...

I still can't see the vote splitting delivering the Tories a majority as long as they sit in the mid-30s. They need to get their numbers back up to the high 30s or I think vote splitting will do it, particularly as they may be bleeding seats elsewhere.

what they gain in ontario with splitting they could lose in the atlantic provinces, quebec and sask/man....
