Gallup's global well-being survey found that 69 per cent of Canadians polled fell into a category that Gallup called "thriving." eyeball Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 If Canadians are contented with their current life - considering the recent economic upheaval that rocked the world - how likely is it that they'll want to gamble with change? Not very given how few seem willing to change course away from a minority government towards a majority. That said we've proven we're perfectly willing to gamble on a new opposition to government. We're getting better at defining our tastes. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
mikedavid00 Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 First everyone in canada is below poverty, now we're all thriving. I suggest Canadians don't know how to speak English and didn't understand the question. Watch the CPAC election coverage around Canada. Canada is a hole, our medical care system is a joke, and everyone here aside from civil servants are either on welfare, or making minimum wage. we live in dirty Russia style apartment building shoe boxes, can't afford cars with a v6, and can't afford a home with more than 800 sq ft. We're so pathetic here, most can't even afford to travel and see their own country. I've vacationed with people from Spain, Greece, and Italy and can pretty much guarantee that those people are FAR more laid back, happy, and content than the Canadians on the resort running around and hating everybody and everything. Quote ---- Charles Anthony banned me for 30 days on April 28 for 'obnoxious libel' when I suggested Jack Layton took part in illegal activities in a message parlor. Claiming a politician took part in illegal activity is not rightful cause for banning and is what is discussed here almost daily in one capacity or another. betsy Posted April 25, 2011 Author Report Posted April 25, 2011 (edited) A lot of Canadians (those who were born and raised in Canada), regardless of race, do not fully comprehend what real poverty is. Poverty does not mean not being able to get the latest XBox game, or can barely afford an Ipod or cellphone, or having the same fastfood take-out for dinner night after night. Poverty is having to survive with just the most basic necessities such as a roof over one's head (whether it be leaky or made of tarp), putting food on the table (be it once a day or sometimes not even that), when nutrition is not on the equation....but just something to have to fill up the belly, where the meaning of existing is just trying to stay alive.... Considering the turmoil all over the world, and real heartwrenching poverty.....I feel grateful and thankful for what we have. Edited April 25, 2011 by betsy Quote
msj Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 If Canadians are contented with their current life - considering the recent economic upheaval that rocked the world - how likely is it that they'll want to gamble with change? Exactly - let's keep electing minority governments forever! Quote If a believer demands that I, as a non-believer, observe his taboos in the public domain, he is not asking for my respect but for my submission. And that is incompatible with a secular democracy.
