Bryan Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 "But seriously, your country [America] , and particularly your conservative movement, is a light and an inspiration to people in this country and across the world." -Stephen Harper Oh yeah, Anti-American to the core. I didn't say Harper himself was anti-American. Besides, the inspiration he speaks of is their conservative movement standing up to creeping socialism, nothing about joining the US. Quote

Moonlight Graham Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Any change from that is UNCANADIAN and ALIEN. IT IS TREASON AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION. Any change to our constitution is "unCanadian" and "treason"? Are you against the Statute of Westminster? Do you still want Canada's foreign policy determined by Britain? Are you against everything in the Constitution Act, 1982? Women didn't have suffrage in Canada at the time of Confederation, are you against those changes? Canada's constitution has undergone many changes since Confederation. It is an ever-evolving "living tree" as many describe it, not something written in stone at the outset like the US constitution. Senate reform has been on the table and been widely discussed as well as implemented since shortly after Confederation. If anything, NOT talking about and/or implementing Senate reform is unCanadian and against our heritage. mikemac Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Why isn't Canadian Sovereignty an Election issue? It certainly should be. It is for me. To know what happened 9 months ago. lolz "perimeter security "action plan."" was it in the budget? Or does it start in January? "The broad outlines of the deal were contained in a declaration released at the start of negotiations" Wow negotiations that led to the exact things outlined 9 months ago. What a dialog. Negotiation. Can someone remind me what that word means again. Edited September 13, 2011 by William Ashley Quote I was here.
bush_cheney2004 Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 ....Canada's constitution has undergone many changes since Confederation. It is an ever-evolving "living tree" as many describe it, not something written in stone at the outset like the US constitution. Swing...and a miss. You can't define Canada's constitution "living tree" as not American, especially since the US Constitution has been amended many times. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
William Ashley Posted September 15, 2011 Author Report Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) Privacy concerns are at the top of the list in the press today about the privacy act needing to be "changed" and less protections on privacy not only to the Harper Government, but also transfer of that information the Harper Government didn't previously have ready access to, now being available also to Uncle Sam. I'm more concerned about joint militry - or US troops in Canada, and even worse US police in Canada on investigations - re FBI "actively" having powers in Canada on a jurisdictional basis. The joint facilities thing is also troubling, why pay for new facilities "outside of Canada" including joint facilities outside both Canada and the US. This is clearly a US security issue, why should Canadians be picking up the cost for US security? Edited September 15, 2011 by William Ashley Quote I was here.
