Handsome Rob Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) Next week will be 50 years, Vostok 1 returned Gagarin successfully. Heck of a lot of accomplishments, much farther still to go. Also hoping political infighting doesn't continue to gut NASA. Edited April 8, 2011 by Handsome Rob Quote

Also hoping political infighting doesn't continue to gut NASA. NASA have to look towards the corporate sector for sustainability instead of relying completely on government funding. Hopefully, few more Einstein geniuses would emerge to help keep the funding afloat. Otherwise NASA would really have to come up with strategies such as "deception point" Quote

Also hoping political infighting doesn't continue to gut NASA. NASA has been all but completely gutted in the last few years with the budget debacles. They still manage to do some interesting stuff on the robotic side but I do not expect that the human spaceflight side of NASA will ever recover. Quote

GostHacked Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 It's kind of sad to see the shuttles grounded after decades of use with no replacement on the horizon. Endeavour landed today for the last time. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/06/01/endeavour-leaves-orbit-heads-earth-final-landing/ 2nd to last flight, Atlantis will make the last flight this year on July 8th. Quite the legacy, I do recall in grade school that we huddles around a TV to watch the first few lift offs. Then in a few hundred years. Spike will be rescued by some guy who rebuilt one of the shuttles and sent that into space. (Anime Cowboy Bepob ) Quote
