Guest American Woman Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Yes, make up your mind. A person who motivates someone to do something positive positive deserves credit. A person who motivates someone to do something negative has no responsibility. The logic of that defeats me. The person who "motivates" someone to do something positive has a specific end result in mind. It's their purpose. It's why they are given credit when the result they are aiming for is acheived. However, as I said, if they motivate someone by giving them so much confidence that they act rashly as a result of the "motivation," the motivator is not held responsible for that. He is not "given credit" for that behavior. Reality is, I'm not the one who has to "make up my mind." You are. Unless you believe that producers of movies are responsible every time someone does something rash as a result of seeing their movie, recording artists and producers are responsible every time someone does something rash as a result of listening to their music, and organizers of antiwar demonstrations are responsible every time the demonstrations get out of hand. And if the police overreact and get brutal, that's the fault of the organizers, too. They should not have organized the demonstrations knowing there's a very real possibility that they could get out of hand. We should have no demonstrations. Ever. And if someone does something rash as the result of a cause you believe in, that person is to blame, too. Right? Because your mind is oh-so-made up. If someone does something, anything, as the result of another person's actions, that person is to blame too. As for the rest, we are not going to agree. We just keep saying the same things differently. I see no point in that. No, we are most definitely not going to agree, but I do appreciate the civil discussion. Quote
